| Right now a group of my friends are in a heated debate which keeps getting worse by the day over which genre of music is globally bigger, trance or drum-n-bass. So far I've been silent in the conversation for lack of hard facts. Each side of the argument is demanding cold hard facts in the form of numbers or percentages proving which one is more larger. So far neither side as come up with anything other than stating such and such a trance party was bigger than such and such a DnB party. Does anyone have any such data taken from a reliable source so that I might settle this despute amongst my friends? I love my friends but some of them are at each other's throats over this. Thanks! |

In Brazil dnb is far more popular than trance, that's for sure.
But I don't care, since I love both genres :p |

guess it depends on where you go to see if it is bigger?
I live on the border of USA and Canada ,, and in Detroit DnB is bigger,, but if you go up a couple hours in Canada Trance is bigger then dnb,,, so globally i guess people have to tell you here what in there area is bigger!
And Im thinking trance because of some of the commercial songs get played over tv, at least here , more then dnb.... |

| yeh but cheese is only counted as trance because it has similar synthesised sounds etc. in theory stuff like flip and fill is technically "club" or "dance" regardless of its sounds so REAL trance i would say isnt as popular as DnB. |

heh
theres two different kinds of trance
cheese trance
and underground trance
they intertwine occasionally, but underground trance is immensely popular....
just look at the success of the trance festivals in the UK :) |

| well, if the top 100 dj's listing is based on popularity, then i would say it is safe to say that trance is more popular seeing as those dj's dominate the top if not by themselves... more so than the DnB dj's. |

Damn it, I want a final answer here. I definitely DO NOT want to be listening to the more popular genre. Underground = Good[/sarcasm]
Why the hell does it matter anyway, just listen to what you want to listen to. I advise you not to get involved in this dumb argument X-Multiply, don't waste your time. |
