why are some artist albums mixed together???

does anyone have a clue, why is it? i really don't get it!
i understand dj mixed albums which consist of tracks by different artists that are mixed! but what the for would you mix an artist album?
bt - rare & remixed
for example is one of these albums and paul van dyk albums are mixed too! that sucks! they are totally worthless because of this! i really hate it!:whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: |

I'm feeling quite the opposite - why are most albums not mixed together?
To me an album is something else than 12 radio edits chucked together. That's not an album - it's a bunch of tracks on 1 disc.
That's why I've always loved BT & Junkie XL albums... they take you on a journey and the tunes tell you a story.
The albums are not meant for DJ's. They're for the home listeners. |

I feel the same way as Mr. Mystery. I am at a point where if it not mixed, I dont like listening to it. for the most part, if you were to buy the vinyl counterpart to those albums, the vinyl is still unmixed and in Skip's terms.. not "totally worthless".
For instance, I got the global dvd to watch and to listen to his recreation and mix of his trax of the last 10 yrs, not to spin the tracks i didnt have. Plus, you could still spin them (judgeing from the PvD cuz that is the only one of the artists i have heard), just dont let the tracks go all the way to the end! |

| I like it when there are two versions available for sale. A mixed version and a separate tracks version. |

Yeh I agree...
I think it should be like this, so then you have the choice. From this, they can take the sales figure and look at which sells better. At least then they would know what the public want rather than giving us something which is just ok.

have you listened to bt's rare & remixed? that album is mixed like , the tracks are kind of mixed, but then again not! there are breaks between the tracks and it's just totally weird imo!
if i'm listening to an album that isn't mixed together, my journey won't be interrupted by breaks between tracks, not at all. but for each their own i guess! |

in my memory by tiesto was good, 10 tracks (roughly) to their entirity and unmixed and also a bonus disc of all the remixes.
if cds should be mixed albuims then so should vinyl, so you buy the singles. its such a load of shti having them mixed, thats for mix comps.
Aand what happens if you want to listen to ONE track and not the whole cd?! you then have to listen to a mixed intro and outro to a track, which is gay. some tracks you are meant to hear the intro and outro to the fullest.
the only exception to this are chicane albums! some fo the ambient tracks are belended together and the rest not, which is fine imo. |

| To me it's kinda like yes and no. Some albums i like more when mixed and then again some not. Like Oliver Lieb's LSG albums are great when mixed, but of a few BT albums, i'd like to have unmixed versions. |

| You are not the artist, so if the artist wants to release an album that has a part of it is mixed and people will buy it then the artist has every right. If you don't like it then go buy the 3X12" unmixed album or buy the maxicd's. If you don't like it then don't buy it and find something else to spend yer money on. |
