TranceInMySoul The best known software is probably Native Instruments Reaktor which allows you to journey to whatever depth of modularity you desire (and can understand ;)) Coming soon is Arturia Moog Modular V which may be more what you are thinking of in terms of modular synths. I'm certainly looking forward to trying that one :) Another option I know about is VAZ Modular but I never used that so can't comment... Etherium I think VirSyn Tera is another modular.
