keeping up with all the tunes!

Does anyone else find it frustrating to keep up with all the tunes, especially the new ones?

For those of us who have not been listening to trance for 10 years, there's so many great older tracks out there too..which compounds the overwhelming amount of stuff you want to hear.

What do you do? I now realize why people only stick to one style of music to collect ie. hard trance, prog, uplifiting etc...

CDR Promos are a pain in the arse i think. They dont make it hard to keep up so to speak but makes tunes seem so old.

They get handed around months before even promo vinyls are, meaning the tune is 'old' even before you get a promo 12" or a full release.

An example of this would be kansai - rococco. Only just out on platipus promo yet its been cained by the likes of armin and such since last summer!

The best thing that i can think of doing, IS NOT KEEP UP. Whats the point of keeping up with tunes when you dont spend any time in listening to the tunes you just picked up? I take a few weeks break and just enjoy what I have and then when there are enough new tunes out I go on a scavanger hunt for the new ones...just discovered this a few months back.

Hi, I know this is sort of off-topic, but do you (or anyone else) know when that record is coming out and where I order it? I've been checking Juno for a while now heh - thanks in advance :D

I know what you mean....it's frustrating for me because I spin breaks and there's even less of a demand for those tracks than trance tracks (or so it seems) and it gets difficult to find vinyls that are more than a year old. If I had a steady income I'd order more often but I only get money every so often so the next time I buy I have to decide which tracks I want the most.

I understand very well your point of view. I had the same problem when i'm started to listen trance. Then i have recognized that it's impossible have and know all the tunes released so far and that it's very important own taste: i preferer listen two tracks that i like than to listen ten tracks that IMHO aren't high quality. You have to do a selection and it can be also a pleasant job.
I hope that you understand my solution to the problem.

I totally agree. Personally, I don't try to do too much keeping up at all. I just like to submerse myself in all the good stuff, old and new. Especially since I have a very broad taste in music, it's impossible to be on top of it all, so I don't have to bother trying to. :)

normally when i hear ppl recommendin a tune, i put it in a wordfile r somethin. it builds up and up til i have a nice queue on songs for me to dl

once i get need some new material i go to my list and slowly work through it, this way means i get most of the tunes although i might get later than others but that doesnt bother me :)
