Anyone use a shortwave radio?

Y'know, those radios that can supposedly pick up foreign radio stations?
Here's an example:

and some others:

If you do have one, how well do they pick the dance stations, e.g. Radio 1, ID&T, Radio 538, Kiss 100, Fritz, etc ?
If it works, I think that's a nice alternative to needing to use the computer.

don't even count on it,

the radios you mention aren't even wide range radios so that's already one problem , second is the distance we are at, you can potentially receive local radio stations when out of their range, but seeing you're trying to go beyond the set limitations you're going to need more equipment then just a basic shortwave radio

it can be done, but it's extremely complexe

pardon my memory, I haven't been involved in radio in years ...... used to want to get a ham radio license and everything and just dropped all of it
