Earplugs

Well the weekend is nearing, and I'm pretty sure my ears will be wasted after Fri/Sat. I'm also pretty sure I'll have to do homework on Sun, which is nearly impossible with the neverending ringing in your ears :(. So I've come to a conclusion that I need to buy earplugs, but since I know nothing about them I've decided to make a thread.

Basically I want to know:
1. Where to buy them? (I'm d/t everyday)
2. Is there any difference b/w earplugs or are they all the same?

Thanks peeps.

Its a very good idea to use earplugs. You can get them at any hardware store (Canadian Tire, Home Depot, etc.). Apparently, they even sell then at the Viva coatcheck (tatgirl got them there). There are tons of different kinds but probably, the smaller they are the better they look since they don't stick out of your ears as much.

Shoppers Drug Mart has those orange squishy ones that they sell at Viva, pretty cheap there too .. and they come with a small case for ur pocket..

I've picked up mine @ Shoppers Drug Mart. They're not HUGE but they're not the smallest things either. Plus, who cares what it looks like? As long as they do the job.

if you want some quality earplugs for a cheap price, i suggest you but etymotic plugs

www.etymotic.com

i bought mine for $12 USD and they are fantastic. much better than the cheap hardware store ones. these plugs lower the volume of all the frequencies in teh music, so the beats still sound good, but they dont up your ears. you can get them in different 'strengths' as well...like 20dB 25dB etc...but the er-20's should be fine for a club setting.

You can get earplugs at the drug store. There are two major kinds. The squishy foam ones that usually come in neon colours and the silicon ones that are shaped to the ear canal. The first one is about $2 and the later $3. I bought the later and they filter out alot of noise. It's great when you need to study in a public library or sleep.

Anyone know where to get good sleeping blindfolds?

I'm pretty sure the last ones I bought at Shopper's are -20dB (if not, just read the package to be sure).

Party on! :toothless

I can just imagagine some time in the future everyone wearing earplugs. And clubs would still not get it. So you'd have them playing even louder and louder music and more and more people are wearing earplugs.

You can buy some at Markswork Warehouse, they're around the cashier, so just ask them if you can't find it in the store.

but in all honesty, i dont like wearing them because i have a hard enough time hearing people without them.

Actually, I find it easier to hear people speaking with ear plugs in. They tend to block out lots of high frequencies and I can hear someones vioce better. Unfortunately, cheap ear plugs can alter the "effect" or the quality of the sound...and who wants to shell out the bucks for custom made musicians ear plugs?:)
