For some reason all my extra money goes to vinyls. Its a habit that I can't seem to quit. My food money, gas money, and worst of all, girlfriend-go-out money, all goes to new vinyls. What the is my problem.

peace,

Steve

ONE TIME I DIDN'T BUY BEER I BOUGHT A RECORD INSTEAD. YOU KNOW YOU HAVE AN ADDICTION WHEN VINYL TAKES AWAWY FROM YOUR ALCOHOLISM!!!!!!!!!!1

No, check this out. I am a grand in debt in a credit card, I have a brand new Dell computer that needs to be paid at least a grand more, and I'm 300 in debt on my Structure credit card. I would so have all them paid off and some money to spare if I had no vinyl. I've been spinnin' for like 7 months now and , I have almost 200 records. The ty thing is, I only play maybe like 30 out of em all. I'm doing a medical drug study to pay off my debt right. It pays really well, and I encourage everyone to do it at least once. And whats even more ed up....I'm thinking about the $1200 I'm gonna get and spend it all on music, and not my credit card debt. But I doubt I will be that stupid.

peace,

Steve

Haha, a medical drug study to pay off debts? Now that's what I call an addiction. But damn, $1200 for it, I don't blame you! And yes vinyl purchasing is definitely an addiction. I keep a notepad file where I have all of the vinyl listed I wanna buy. I'll buy like 20 records, take them off the list and within a week it's larger than it was to begin with! I need to put gas in my car sometime this week, yet I'm wondering whether to skip a class to save on gas so I can purchase another record!

you know what man? i suggest you stop buying vinyl. I am in a similar situation to you, been spinning since the summer when i got my decks. Except i only have about 50-60 records. After buying my initial learning records, (which are actually really good tunes, i will never get rid of and am very careful with) i promised myself i wouldn't buy any more vinyl until I was out of debt.

it was HARD! my buddy came and gave me a sob story about travelling to brazil and he needed to sell his sampler, so i bought that for $300 off of him. then my girlfriend got our MD player stolen, so i needed to buy another one of those for $320. numerous other came up that i just HAD to have (snowboard boots, hotel reserveations etc). but you know what? finally, just TODAY, i paid off my whole credit card $1200! I'm so happy, now i can finally go buy a big stack of vinyl!

seriously man, pay off those cards, starting with the highest interest rate first, and THEN indulge in luxuries.

while you wait, start digging through your crate and memorizing your tracks, i bet you haven't even played some of them!

This is good guys. I look around this thread, and I see courage. And that courage gives me strength. Together, we can change ourselves. We can overcome these obstacles.

Now, lets pair together and tell our stories.

I tell you what pisses me off most about buying vinyls. The instances where I have the money or lack of for the matter to buy them, and the day after I buy them, a couple new releases come out the next day. Grrrrrrrr....so I go back and buy them too...LOL:D

Mmm..Once, I did not go out drinking with my friends because I wanted to use the money I would've spent to buy some new vinyls.
Being a vinylholic is curing my alcoholism...hehe..so its not such a bad thing after all.
