i posted this on the arc board as well but let me knwo if you are interested...

ok, so when i get depressed i tend to make expensive purchases... and in addition to that, i have been wanting to check out one of the uk festivals since i first heard about them.

well homelands is the 1st of june and i kinda want to go . i'd want to take the prior week for vacation in the uk (provided my boss gives me the vacation time). i have been there a few times but it just doesn't get old for me and i'd love to do some of that stuff again.

so far, i have found airfare for $462 on virgin atlantic but i am looking for better. hostels are about $60 per night in london but there are other places i'd like to go in the uk as well.

the reason i reach out to you guys is cause i don't actually have any friends who can afford this who would have any desire to go to an 18 hour party while there.

trust me the line up is good. here is the link.

hey girl!! just a tip:

as for hostels, the best one is the Albert Hotel in South Kensington (Richest part of central london, excellent/safe location).. if you book ahead, you can get single (not shared) rooms for as cheap as $10 no joke :) :) and it's very clean... (my study abroad program used it as dorms for students, so it was very well kept) also, it's right across the street from Hyde Park too!! the best in park. sigh. i miss london so much...
i would really like to go to homelands but my plans are more geared for the end of july/beginning of august... godskitchen global gathering on july 26th then nature one in germany in the beginning of august.. (and of course, random clubbing :toothless )

I would go, but that line-up isnt worth it for me. The line-ups Im sure will be far better for GCSSS and GKGG and not to mention the week after gkgg is dance valley and the week after that is the energy parade in switzerland with PVD and Nu-NRG. I cant give you much info on london because I either stay with friends or in a hotel, but I will do some looking for you as I will be in London on March 28th for Nu-NRG live @ Heaven :eyes:

you like the albert hotel? i do not like...i stayed in a great dorm for about $20 a nite by great portland street. it was clean and cheap and you got breakfast...but that was 2 years ago, now i just stay with friends/family. last time i stayed in london i was in kensington which was amazing....nice flat it was. i love london. mind the gap please.....

I think $462 is pretty cheap for roundtrip. ;)
What I am going to have to do is fly from austin to NY,DC, or Boston, and then to Europe. Or else I am paying like $1000 plus to fly direct from here. :(

I agree. I wouldn't go for that lineup either, no offense. ;)

John,

as far as summer festivals in uk/europe go that line-up is very weak. GKGG had the same people plus about 100 more as did GCSSS. Signum was at GKGG and he sucked. Armin and Ferry played back 2 back at Dance Valley 1st doing an hour of all classic trance and then 2 hours from each, those are true festivals, homelands is the weaker sister. At least do it right and hit creamfields if it is back again, but def. watch for gcsss and gkgg, the grandfathers of all parties :)

it isn't only the lineup but the timing. memorial day is that week so it is one less day off work. airfares are MUCH cheaper than at the end of july. and there are some nice breaks djs at homelands. you know i am more into house and tech than trance.... richie hawtin , stnaton warriors, sasha... that is plenty satisfying for me, among others.

you are into breaks????? I never knew!!!!:p

hehe, Mels the others have twice as many breaks djs as well, about 12-14 hours of breaks were at gkgg last year. I have the line-up card and I'm sure lunasea does too.

I understand where you are coming from though so I know how restricted you are. The summer festivals are more expensive, but the flights arent that much more, maybe 500-550. Work is work though and if you have a choice between homelands or nothing, choose homelands

:)
