I know when people think of ATB, they think of cheeze... But I think he was better off producing tracks with that guitar sound in them... His songs might sound better now, but back then he was different because he had his own little trade mark :D... I miss it, am I the only 1 ????

No JayD .. your not the only one, those Cheese tunes that many out there hate will , belive it or not, stay in my memory, since around that Time was when I became a fan of trance... with one of my 1st purchases Matt Darey IBIZA Euphoria.

Yes, ATB is also when i came into trance, it was exactly during the summer i traveled in the greek isles, and i wont forget dancing to '9pm' and 'dont stop' on top of tables at dance clubs on Ios island!

ahhhh those were the days

i love ATB

i think ATB helped to push to the trance scene where it is now... well it did increase exposure.. be it in a bad way.. but nonetheless.. that guitar is nice

im sorry but im gonna disagree... yeah ok 9pm was cool back when it wasnt on general release, infact ill go as far as saying it was a in good choone... then dave pearce got his hands on it then next thing u know its being played every in 5 minutes everywhere u go... annoying? no that isnt the word, i cant stand that sound now!! then he brought out dont stop.. which was just 9pm with different words.. the killer remixes... just 9pm with some words half-inched from a seal song... arg i HATE THAT GUITAR! :) what would he do if someone stole his bend wheel?

bebowowo beb beowowowowowbebow... grrr

I have to agree with tu_face here. 9pm was cool i thought, but when don't stop came out i'd had enough.. That guitar sound was everywhere, and after that i haven't bothered that much with atb.

Peace

The guitar sound did get a bit monotnous after a while. It's probably for the good he changed the style a bit. Everyone would just complain that his style was the same I think :)

Sorry, I know this post was buried a long time ago, but I just had to say two things:

When a song reach a level where it's heard every 5 minutes, it's because a great work has been done.

Even better than 9 pm and Don't stop, there is Benito Martinez - Let's celebrate (ATB mix). Of course, the guitar part. It's different, short and excellent.

i miss that sound too.....i don't like any of ATB's new stuff....his first cd was really good.....lots of different tunes.....only the whippenberg remix of the letugo song is OK at the best....

I really liked that guitar sound too, very innovative for ATB to do at the time. It did get played out however and I wonder how much a big name producer of today would be criticized if they produced a track with the ATB-type guitar sound. I would certainly applaud them for doing so but I still think they would be criticized a lot. What the hell...We all need a cheezy euro-dance song to dance around to like idiots to once in awhile:D:D:D
