I don't know about you but I feel psychedelic trance is getting quite popular lately. Maybe its just here. Even though there are no regular parties dedicated to goa here, I've been to at least 8 psychedelic events since september.

Few weeks ago James Holden was playing at a club here and in the chillout room instead of simply "chillout" they had a group of 3 dj's playing goa. And I heard the same will happen when steve lawler will be playing next week.

What do you think? whats the situation where u live?

Well, at this very moment I don't see psychedelic or goa trance become more popular. I do think that todays trance will change and use elements from goa trance. The typical 'hands-in-the-air' or plain uplifting stuff will fade away, because people are getting bored with it. A primary example of a trance DJ who produces the more psychedelic/goa/intelligent stuff is John '00' Fleming. If you listen to his remix of Café del Mar you'll notice he uses elements from goa trance. Lots of sounds fading in and out, weird sounds in the background etc. It's kinda hard to explain, but I hope you understand my point; trance will change and become more 'intelligent' (I think).

Interesting idea although it's obviously difficult to predict accurately.

I like the idea of uplifiting trance evolving towards a more goa influence, however it's possible it could go the other way --> tech trance, housier stuff. It's hard to tell.

This doesn't make much sense since the goa we all refer to is actually in decline. The peak of melodic psychedelic trance (astral projection , infected mushroom, hallucinogen, etnica) was in 1996...what now rules the scene is minimalistic techno-like psy like ticon, x-dream, son kite and koxbox.
so no, goa doesn't get more popular.

Uplifting trance is fairly popular among the younger crowds where I live. The older clubbers seem to come out for the progressive, house, and DnB. Goa hasn't been popular here for a long time, and it doesn't seem to be coming back.

I never personally liked Goa, however, the producers who combine goa with other trance elements to make quality tunes (such as John '00' Flemming) are some of my favorites. I hope this hybrid style of trance music catches on and is used more in the future.

I believe they are still popular. Most of the names you mentioned released singles or album during 2002 and I've seen a single by Infected Mushroom in 2003. Of course you'll say thats too little but considering the fact that there's only a bunch of producers in this field it justifies it.

have a look at astral projection web site they seem to be booked almost every 3 days at a different country every time.
