This was probably number two. Or at least close to that. First was the oh-so-popular Atomic Dance Explosion. I found it because I'd heard of this "MP3" and wanted to know more, so naturally I typed in www.mp3.com. Lo and behold, it had music for download and what was their number one song? ADE of course. I remember listening to the first few seconds and thinking, "whoa... this is exactly the kind of music I've been looking for". And so my journey began proper. However, while this was the song that got me started on trance, I had heard a trance tune before, Virtualmismo's "Last Train To Universe", a Platipus release from around 1995. It featured on a compilation I bought called Dance Mix 96, and ironically was the one track I repeatedly skipped over. It didn't have the catchy vocal hooks of the other songs from such artists as La Bouche and Emjay! It's also quite possible that I'd heard Robert Miles' "Children" on TV as his video aired quite frequently throughout a certain period, and while I recall being captivated by its melody it was never more than a passing interest. And besides, Children is not a pure trance tune in the strictest sense. But from La Bouche to Robert Miles and the Swedish MP3.com duo I'd always been interested in electronic music -- I just didn't know I liked trance until I heard Atomic Dance Explosion.
