My bad, ur right...I just listened to it. For some reason When I was posting I was thinking of Deep Dish's remix.

i think the Judge is more House and Trance together..hes not really totally trance most of his is very mainstream house ....stuff for clubs kinda things....... i dont think hes Crap...but he isnt one of my top 10 either!

you can not judge him by the stuff he plays on his radio 1 show
he has to abide by certain guidelines on that show
his livesets as prooved at Qontact are a different matter

you only have to see what other TA's have posted about his Qontact Set
cheesey trance ? ?
a good DJ will drop in well known tracks or crowdpleasers if u like
cos thats what the crowd wants ! they want to dance to tunes they recognise and love, to call those tracks cheese is ignorance
so what if they are commercial, those ppl have to eat and live too
and they want their type of music to be popular
u think they write it so only a handful of ppl hear it ?
commercial trance has its place as well as the other genres
DJ Tiesto remixed Deleriums Silence, that track hit it big time
i have not heard anyone call that cheese!
B/c That remix is brilliant. What does this have to do w/anything? Judge Jules produces cheesy trance...Spente Le Stelle. Horrendous!

I saw him last night...he sux. He played old tunes...horrible programming. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS HE PLAYED ZOMBIE NATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[b] what it has to do with it is, from what i have seen of your posts, any track that makes it big and is popular enough to auctully make a dent in the charts you immediatly label as cheese !
As i have said before, just because YOU think a track is cheese, it should not put others off liking a track cos they may be afraid that you will label them as lovers of cheese, i happen to like a lot of the commercial trance thats around, this scene cant stay exclusive as u wish it too, if it does it will die out. the scene needs its commercial side so that the stuff that we prefer can continue to be produced.
I have to search real hard in these forums to find anything positive u have said about anything ? why is that ?
Judge Jules produces cheesey trance ? Hmmmmmm Hi-Gate - caned and unable is a great track, when he dropped that at Qontact it was a masterful piece of timing and it rocked, he does a lot of stuff with Angelic ( he is biased there lol cos of his wife being a part of angelic and yeah i know u are going to say she cant sing blah blah blah and yes there is way much better vocalists then her but . . .) when he dropped the new dub mix of Angelic into his Qontact set it had everyone on here baying for that tune, OMG its great OMG i got to have it etc etc , hmmmmm cheese ? Nah !

So are you baseing your total judgement of Jules on ONE set ?
thats hardly fair really, its like i can say Paul Van Dyk SUCKS !
and base that judgement on one of his last remixes ( Jam & Spoon - Be Angeled (PVD remix)) IMHO that sux and i hate it but i dont base my whole veiw on PVD's work from that one track, i happen to think PVD is one of the best there is :)

or are u baseing your judgement cos he played Zombie Nation ?
i hate that track too btw
Not everyone gets it right all of the time as u have prooved yourself on many occasions :)
as I was not at the set u went to i cant argue against u as to wether he sucked there or not but my overall veiw of Judge Jules based on hearing him spin for the last god knows how long ( at least 5 years ) is that he can and more often than not play a great live set .
You also have to remember Trance is not as big in the states as it is elsewhere and the use of older tunes in a set is to play stuff ppl recognise and will get up and dance too, whats the point of spinning 100% new stuff all night if no one knows it and wont dance to it ?
If anything Twilo you should be supporting this music that we all love and give other forms of it more chance, by ppl hearing " cheesey " trance it may just encourage them enough to get further into the scene and move away from Commercial trance to the stuff we talk about here on TA :)
patticus
all his productions, as hi-gate and yomanda, are cheese.
its the difference between him and pvd, where pvd can repeatedly play his own productions cuz they're great, but jules is stuck playing caned and unable, which is horrible. and old.
and i hate his scratching.

Ur analogy doesn't work. U can't compare a 4 hour set to a remix. My opinion is based on his track selection & programming, not soley on the fact that he played RBA- No alternative.

U ONLY GET UP & DANCE TO SONGS U RECOGNIZE??? Thats retarded. Look, I'm a muzik snob. When I go out I don't just pop pills & dance my ass off. I pay attention to the music. If u like Judge Jules..so be it. I think he's cheesy. I'm entitled to my own opinion. FYI, I say plenty of wonderful things bout PVD, Tiesto, clubs, parties, tracks. It's just easier to find & attack the negative than positive.

hmm..after reading the entire thread, Im not so sure I wanna post this, but I will ne ways. Jules, has yet to have a good CD that shows off his talents. Ill be the first to say that anything with Judge jules on its label SUX! The radio show..well its for an entire nation/world full of clubbers. He has some strict guidelines to follow im sure. Id like to see u program for the BBC radio 1 and see how long listeners stick around. New stuff is great, but oldies r what most(MOST) ppl love. In fact, I think RBA is a great track, when comprared to the original. N b4 jules, Id never heard it. Even with the net N.am is still way behind europe on the trance scene. wayy behind. k..now to jules live. Ive seen him once*he ruled* heard lots of his mixes*they r ok* and heard qontact*my fave set @ the moment..* But tell me which DJ has NEVER had a set that u didnt like? I cant stand the PvD in Vancouver set...but I love Gallery Turnmills. The only Oakie I can stand is Tranceport..Fergie sucked live, but his Jan essential mix is amazing.

DJs r human, they play to the crowd. And if u arent in the crowd, then they cant feel off of u. So unless u were @ the event u r criticizing, I say back off your in high horses ppl.

now what genre is he? He strays from house to trance and back. He doest really have distinct lines like others, cuz his position (@ BBC) is to plz everyone!

those be my ideas.
