how to make the "Start" button on WINdows appear 'fast'

its driving me crazy. i got XP and when i click "START" the little ing button always appears slowly then when i point to "programs" that appears slowly and so on and on. how can i make the START button and the menu appear "FAST" ????
do i make any sense? thanx much!

[edit] right click my computer-->properties-->advanced_tab-->settings-->click on "adjust for best performanece"

There is a way, by using the registry entries. I'll have to search through some computer related magazines. I don't remember what you have to do with the volumes e.t.c. Let me look and as soon as I find it , I'll let you know. You can also browse some websites to enlighten you. :)

i think there's an easier way to do it, just like there is a way to customize the "start" button, toolbars and other . i've seen it done before, its just a few clicks of a mouse...but i never memorized how to do it...:(
