I do still play hard trance (eg. at gigs like Kandy etc.) but personally in the last year I have moved more towards the lighter sound. I still buy a lot of hard trance (flutlicht style stuff) but I am pushing myself as more of a trance dj these days (Five AM). The new cd mixed by myself and Reemo will be an example of the uplifting style we both play now. Cheers....

What a great night....
I have just one little bit of bitching to do...

Who the hell played "be cool"?????

I mean wtf?
Definately a big no no.
U'd think the dj would have more sense then to play crap like this?!?!!?!

Anyway... great to meet some more TA's
Thanks to Stipsy for the free entry.

And Steve... u'r the man.
and what a mad cd... printed with a white label and all.

One more question... anyone got any money for PvD??

been lurking these forums for quite a while now, & whilst have found them very interesting, havent posted as some of you guys post elsewhere & just how many forums can you belong to?

In regard to 5AM, i guess i'm chief organiser, but it really is a team effort & it's a good team. Maybe i'm just steering the boat?

interested in all your feedback (good or bad) & am open to suggestions also.

We were pretty happy with opening night. Good crowd, good vibe & generally good music.

I guess we were a bit unsure of what to expect crowd wise, and the punters definately knew their stuff! Thing is, we are promoting trance, we are dedicated, we are there for the music, and we want a welcoming environment where we can set up a really good trance community.

There were teething problems, but you only had to see the crowd between the hours of 2am - just after 5am going nuts to see the potential of it all!! You only had to see how emotional Steve Strangis was to see what it means to him & the other dj's.

okay, there may have been a bit of cheese, but you're gonna get at least some of that, as some stuff we all listen to is really borderline at times. Same happens at Altitude in Sydney or anywhere else trance is played. Lets just say we're working to make it as good as possible. there's a lot that goes on behind the scene's, and lets just say that the guys that e-mailed each other set lists before the night, got it pretty right.

We're giving young guys a go, and the young guys absolutely kicked arse. not many others are giving these guys a go. reputations count for nothing here & the people that deliver will get rewarded. We are fully supportive of new talent.

Ive seen trance go from being huge in Melbourne to being bagged by influential people, and relegated to ty venues. politics took it's toll on the local scene, and just look at the you get dished up at big events with international trance dj's. We are re-establishing the local scene, and some of these boys WILL be noticed & go on to greater things.

I'm sorry for the sermon, but i just wanted to let you people know that we are genuine & working hard to get the trance sound back to a respectable point. I'd rather have half a room full of trance nuts going ballistic than compromising quality for numbers... though there is huge potential for the real trance lovers.

thanx,
Albert Mangler

:D :toothless :happy2:

*btw* Duncan, dont forget our agreement for next 5am ;)

heeeey that was pretty sweet :)
hahahaha when we got in there, this bimbo comes up to me
she goes "have u got any pills??"
i said "nah sorry"
"do u know where to get some??"
"no, i dont sorry, i dont do that."
"are u sure???"
"yes im sure! sorry, im not into that!!"
"some friends of mine are waiting outside, they want to know where to get some pills."
"im sorry, i dont know!!! i mean it, i dont know!! i dont do that stuff!!"
"hmm ok then"

stupid bitch

hahaha also the reversal of the milf hunter
some drunk guy trying to pick up certain female member of the forums, while she is looking around for help to get rid of him, the tables are turned on her and we just laugh like she did hehehe :D

haha other than that not a bad night
lol pappendorf - be cool
w00t!!
i went nuts to that track, such and underrated tune...
haha

mmmmmmmm my gurner moment was 'agnelli & nelson - everday'
dunno what remix it was, didnt quite sound like the lange one but it did have the vocals in it. farrrk thats like one of my favourite songs ever!!! i love singing it :D

i think we came in when jules plees was almost finished cause i remember hearing emerald, but pitched up a lot hehe

like everyone said it was the first night so im gonna let everyone off in terms of some track selection and dj pairings which i didnt think quite matched up...
like with the kirsty hawkshaw track, its pretty energetic and uplifting, i feel that u have to keep that energy going if u are going to play that track, but the one played after it didnt fit at all i thought. i wasnt too sure about some of the other tracks and styles, like dark monks - insane, and some of the other harder tracks, it doesnt sound quite right when one dj is pumping strange world and silence and then the other one cranks out hard trance and nrg. but thats just me, others might not feel the same way.

had to go after steve so didnt get to see the last few djs but they started off good so im sure they continued it :)
was there much air conditioning or anything? it might be just me but i was getting really hot in there...

it was good, steve was mad as usual, and lookin forward to next one :)

one :)

yeah man, im with you particularly on the appropriateness of some tracks when played after others, i was sitting there listening to some nice uplifting melodies then suddenly it went straight into industrial, then vocals, i mean make up your mind or at least phase into the new style, really!

Hhmmmm, I also smell a Vs set. Trance nite for newbies.
Hybrid Junkie
Well as albert expressed there's always going to be extraeneous variables on an opening night that you can't anticipate. The versus template used was mainly just to give all the djs a go at the opening, to see where they will fit in the night, and to get a better idea of what they'll be playing on the following nights held.

The music genre issues have hopefully been phased out now, everyone had a good long discussion and those sorts of easily resolved problems have been addressed. After much deliberation it was decided that they will not happen again :p. All the djs are in communication with each other and should have a good idea of what the others will be playing. In other words; no genre jumping and no track repititions.

If you enjoyed the first night, you'll love the second one.

Also Philby I have a strong inkling it was Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday 2002 (Alex Gold vocal remix) ;)
