How to play a ".avi" file??

Hey all,
Since the search function is down at the mo and i'm in kind of a rush could somebody tell how to play a .avi file.
I'd really appreciate it, cheers

You only really need the divx player for divx .avi files (usu movies that are ripped off dvds). Otherwise avi files can be played in media player.

Once you install the right DivX codec, Windows Media Player can handle DivX avi's just fine!

But you can always use a special DivX player.

I like GlobalDivX a lot!
