This is a letter from Pulser - it is also posted on his site at:

DESTINY@VIVA:-
I just wanted to write something to explain to everyone why myself and Andy Cleeton couldn’t make it over for Destiny @ Viva.
We were booked to fly out of London on Saturday afternoon with British Airways and I even booked into a hotel at Heathrow the previous night in order to get there in good time.
We arrived 2.5 hrs before the flight was due to leave and actually queue-jumped (The BA staff let us) so we could be sure of getting seats. When we got to the desk we went through all the usual check-in procedures but were told they couldn’t allocate us seats because the flight was over-booked.
After standing around for another hour waiting to see if any seats would become available but we were finally told they couldn’t get us on the flight.
Andy and I were extremely pissed off but we asked BA to start checking other flights including connections in the States. We also check with other airlines ourselves and spent 3 hours on the net & phone.
There were other flights but non that would get us to Toronto in time for any slots at Destiny. If there had been any possible alternatives we would have done it!!
The blame for this whole thing lies solely with British Airways.
I know from speaking to my agents that Ryan and the guys at Destiny did everything possible to search for alternatives but had the same results that we did. I understand that many of you will be pissed off with them but please don’t be as it was totally beyond their control.
I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone who was expecting to see us at Viva. We are both gutted and upset that we could not make it.
I will be talking to the promoters this week to see if we can arrange something soon to try and make it up to you guys.
Thanks to everyone who emailed last week. I know from your emails that it must have been both disappointing and annoying when we failed to show but again, please accept our apologies.
I hope to see you all very soon.
Thanks again.
Love & Respect

First off - thanks to all who made it out - overall the event itself went off amzingly - the crowd was pumped, there was mass energy in the room all night long and we made sure not to oversell tickets so that there was a bit of room to move around.
We completely understand that TA's will be a bit pissed that Pulser wasn't there - and you can see from above, there wasn't much we could do - but wait for WEMF - we PROMISE to make it up to you with the BEST trance lineup we have ever assembled!
If you check the other boards around town, you will see reviews are VERY positive - but once again, we know that TA's were looking for Pulser and we do apologise that BA screwed us all on that one...
Thanks again and see you in the summer!

Ok, by just looking at the reviews for this party, I'm very glad I did NOT waste money on a ticket. No Pulser?!?! Thats gay! For the people that did go, I think you got ripped. And why in the hell can't Destiny do something about security letting people in WITHOUT tickets ahead of people that were in line WITH tickets. *Cough* Destiny NYE *Cough*. I never see this problem when Temporal Rhythm is running the show. I think before Destiny holds another party @ Viva, they should look into the security and door problems, just my 2 cents thats all.

p.s. Sorry to hear about all the tiness that happened that night for all TOTA's that attended. |

Ok, before everyone craps all over this party I just have to say one thing, I have learned a long time ago to never (and I mean ever) trust a party review from the majority of the Tranceaddicts here (no offense).
I would be pissed off too if I went in there and found out that Pulsar and Cleeton didn't show up, however I read the party reviews from other local toronto boards and everyone had thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had nothing but positive reviews. As always, it's only the TAs (actually it's the TOTAs) that always seem to nitpick things to death and find faults with a party. I've been to many partys where the TOTAs crap all over but which I had a great time. It was not Destiny's fault that Pulsar/Cleeton couldn't make it so you just have to get past that and try to enjoy yourself that night.
I'm not trying to stir up trouble or anything but it's just an observation. Just wanted to thank Originalvibe and OS/2 for throwing some great parties and to keep doing what you're doing. It seems like a lot more people enjoyed themselves than just a small group of TOTAs.
Peace out.;) |

| This is just a thought I had while being patted down at the entrance to viva. I do understand that security has to "make sure" that illegal substances don't get into the club but if they must give my crotch a good squeeze in the process why not make it a pleasant experience :) Hire better looking female security dammit !! I'm sure the guys will agree with me... having your balls squeezed by a woman who looks like she can kick your ass isn't a very comfortable experience :toothless: |

alrite .. after getting hardly a night's worth of sleep I can finally look back at this party with more of a clear head.
To be honest, appart from the other night I have NEVER attended a Destiny party where I didn't have a good time. After looking back on it I can tell that I was a bit harsh in my review, but I think that was just due in part with being caught up in the moment of it all. My first trance party was at a Destiny event and that got me into the whole scene completely.
If some of you look at my past reviews you'll notice that I don't go and pick every little detail about a party that I didn't like. In fact I try to keep most of my reviews fairly positive. Thank goodness that I'm also a jungle fan and I DID infact have lots of fun partying up in the jungle tent with Nikish and Bliss in the mainroom. I just feel sorry for anyone who went mainly for the trance acts. This isn't to say that OS/2 and the locals didn't put on a good show. OS/2's set was on the spot, but as Durafei said earlier, the let down of forking over a lot of money in hopes to see someone is the biggest disappointment.
I know that there wasn't anything that Ryan or Destiny could do at that point considering that the DJ's were to fly in the same evening. But I mean some of you TA's can't blame someone for being upset when you're being made to wait in line for almost more than an hour in the freezing cold, only to go in the club and find out that the 2 main trance headliners have been cancelled. I'm just upset at the fact that we couldn't even be given prior notice atleast in the line or something. I feel sorry for guys like Tordan who were made to wait and still pay the $45 cover and miss the main acts. Again thank goodness I'm also into jungle otherwise I don't know what I would have done.
Anyways, I'm at work right now.. so maybe I'll post more later. |

On be half of myself and os/2 I want to thank eveyrone for comming out. Without repeating what os/2 said I want to clear up a few things:
1 - There were posters and signs on the netrence doors and the cash window explaining that Pulser and Andy Cleeton did not make it on the plane and that refunds were available before entry if you felt this would ruin your night.
2 - Trust me, no one is more upset then a promoter when their headling acts are unable to make it. It was the biggest downer ever but I still think our local TALENT saved the rest of the party with some bangin trance.
3 - The last shuttle was not really at 6:30. It was at 7:00 so that it would arrive at Finch Station at 7:30 as promised on our website and the message boards. We only anounced it as leaving at 6:30 so that people would not miss the bus and board it early! In the past, people have gotten left behind and this way that would not happen.
4 - Please keep in mind that although people felt the price was high for this event tickets were avaialable for as low as $20. Our prices were still cheaper then other raves of that size.
5 - All and all it was a wicked night to remeber. I am sorry to those like myself that were disapointed that we missed Pulser and Andy Cleeton but it was 100% beyond our control. In Destiny's 10 years of throwing partys this has never happend so we hope that it will not deter you from going to future Destiny events - the trance lineup at this years WEMF will surely make up for it!!!

Ascension @ Industry was some of my best parties EVER!
It's too bad about the DJ mishap. I know Ryan wouldn't screw people over and had nothing to do with messing people around - I'm sure this was just a mess up.
Destiny is one of the best promoters in the city and still throws good parties (last one I went to was Binary Finary in oct/nov I think). I'm sure Ryan will make it up the next party (hopefully in a cool downtown venue). |

The only way that can happen is if there's a little Kid Lax action! ;)
The tribe tent was a great experience last year, bring on the main stage this year! ;) heh
Hey it was worth a try :p |

That's not entirely true. A couple of years ago Hardfloor bailed at the last minute and sent a DAT in their place. :stongue: |

LOL.. you and trancewave are funny. I was bitching about main headliners missing. That's not just "something to bitch about".
I have to agree that the majority of people did enjoy the party. Probably because most people in there were junglists(and junglists definitely had a good time, I could tell), and the rest didn't have a clue as to who Pulser was. It's just that when I go to a party and the headliner is missing, I'm pissed.
Anyways, I'm not blaming Destiny in any way. I'm sure you guys have done everything possible! |
