Basically, thats one reason. Just like Osama releases all those BS videos, we televise whats going on live. Though, I can tell they're only scratching the surface of whats going on, but I can't guarentee it because I don't know about any 'classified' things. But you can't really say they are giving to much info, when all you have heard is the info they have told you.

yep, thats what they're doing. Its kinda obvious they want them to surrender reducing the blood shed making it easier to set up a new government.

BTW, I thought this tread would be about the mindless bable the media spews forth. God if i hear "Shock and Awe" one more time I will puke! :whip: Public tv seems like the only channel that has independent journalist who arent just a mouth piece for the US government.

Oh ya, journalists are a little crazy, but without them you would have to rely on the military to let the people know whats going on (no thx).

Can you imagine the hazard pay the journalists are getting though? :eyes:

Journalists are an important part of war though, without them history would not be as accurate as it is.

1. The information being reported by "on location" reporters is easily available to the Iraqi military anyway. They have maps and recon, they probably know more than the reporters. (if not, then they're completely ed and they should turn on CNN ASAP.)

2. Any other info that is reported comes from the military and they would certainly not jeopardize their operation.

3. A free press is one of the most important elements of a democracy. If the military started censoring CNN's and whoever else's reporters (which is virtually impossible these days anyway), then I'd be very worried.

what some of you don't seem to understand is that this isn't only an american thing ;) as much as the war isn't only about the usa

press agencies work with journalists around the world, some being locals, some being sent on the field for specifics assignments.

media is a planet wide thing

The news media gives out this information because they hate America and they hate democracy. They don't care if 100 US troops die because they said the exact time and place they were located. They don't give a , all they care about is getting their ing story so that they can be the top dog news reporter. These reporters should be tried for treason. I would like to see what would happen if they reported like this in WW2. They would have been shot.

in rights man. This is bull. I could do a better job right now... US troops are bombing the outta Iraq, they arent doing . End of story

Please stop believing that the American military commanders would be so stupid as to let the media report on information that will compromise lives. The media (and not just American reporters) were specifically invited to join with certain units so they can broadcast to the world that we aren't committing atrocities to civilians, we are conducting ourselves in a civilized manner, and to expose any womd's that we find before we can be accused of "tainting" the evidence. If anything this is a great thing that we're getting unprecedented news coverage of our actions in the field.

whats the problem? the military is happy with the way these reporters are going about their jobs etc., otherwise they wouldn't let them be embedded with the units.

most of you also failed to realise the potential of misinformation that the media can provide. eg. 'we can expect massive blitz of awe and shock bla bla into baghdad'.

and yet, they sent the ground forces in before the so called massive blitz occured. probably caught the iraqi's off guard who were all expecting to have the bombed out of it. misinformation - get it?

I've seen like 2 of u already say the same thing and all im gonna say to u 2, is that ur VERY DUMB.

You think USA actually gives out the INFO on TV? They give out their plan? nOT, they tell u wat they want you and the ENEMIES 2 hear.

ITS ALL PROPAGANDA, it allways has been> Propaganda = very bad.

on a side note, dunno if it was posted earlier...too lazy to read...

but IMO having 24 hour visual and audio news coverage live on TV of places being destructed and missiles flying about is just immoral...

has society gone back to barbaric roots of survival of the fittest and a display of power for popularity??
