Win XP Pro activation

Alright guys, I just installed Xp Pro this week from an original CD and with an original serial code. The first time I started it up, it asked me to activate. I had no other choice than enter the serial number and activate via online. The PC connected and told me that the serial has already been used (it's my roommates CD). So now, I'm stuck here, with 26 days to go and don't know what to do. I tried new serials and even changing the serial by selecting the phone option, but nothing works.
Can anyone help with this? I don't feel like formatting my drive again and installing another copy.
I'd appreciate any help you could give me,

i THINK i can help you out. i had to change my cdkey when i was updating to service pack 1.

| I hate to break it to you but i think you are kinda screwed, as microsoft has a list of all valid serial numbers, and although a few ones have appeared microsoft knows these ones and will not let you activate xp. all i can say is try and find a cooporate copy of xp pro as this doesnt have the activition software included, that or go and buy xp pro |

Well every official cd is allowed to be registered on 2 computers, i think you have obviously used it on 2 cds.
So basically its a waste of time.
Just go down to yr local computer fair and talk to the dodgy bloke at the back and get the cracked version, well its not cracked, it was a company release, so doesnt have the serial crap on it. It is wot most peole i know have.
U can pick it up for about 5r, or prob download it off the net :D |

| u can used the xp pro corp version. no activation required. best version there is :D |

hhhmmmm....yeah try to dl a corporate version or an older one which you can modify the key for....other than that dunno what to tell u.
i got my LEGIT;) WIN XP PRO for **FREE** , downloaded it off of MSDN website, in alliance with my UNI;) cos i'm taking so called "science management" classes....haha. whatever. got me a free legit copy;)
