aight check it out, before i start the review i just wanna say that if u live in the states and your a tru fan of electronika, ultra festival is the one annual event u MUST attend !!! wow ! it really took me by surprise.. the whole production - location, dj line up, sound system, lighting, visuals, and effects were absolutely amazing.. what i appreciated most was def. the sound.. so ing dope its uindescribable.. i mean, ive been to outdoor events and outside is the best acoustic for sound but i couldnt believe i dope the quality was, seriously.. i would go there again just to hear that kind of sound output.. it was amazing:crazy: :eyes: :eyespop:
ok the djs i checked out... we got there super early(around 11:30am) and bumped into melissa and started roaming around.. went to the main stage to see Mark Lewis spinning.. i havent seen him since twilo days so i was happy to catch him and he spun flawless.. then it was FC Kahuna..they were also great but then i wanted to catch Donald Glaude and when we got there it was still John Graham(Quiver) finishing up his set.. then Donald Glaude got on the 1&2's and just killed it.. omg u have to see this guy.. he is 100% energy non stop!! crazy skills on the decks.. scratches, uses effects perfectly and his transitons couldnt be smoother.. he had the place jumping non stop til he was done.. then it it was Max Graham.. he played his usual style but it couldnt live up to Donald Glaude's energy so the crowd thinned out a bit but maintained to play a decent set... during Max Graham's set i walked around a little bit to see Seb Fontain who totally changed his style.. he was playing jazzy house\prog which i wasnt feeling so i went back to Max Graham's tent to see that Dave Ralph had tooken over the decks.. Dave Ralph being one of the djs that inspired me the most, i was happy to catch him @ Ultra.. he's set was off the hook, the usual DR style.. Deep Progressive House, Tech-House and Progressive Trance with minimal melody.. it was awesome cuz DJ Dan never showed up and Dave Ralph ended up spinning extra 40mins:D afterwards i went back up to the main stage where all my friends were @ including brian and melissa.. melissa wanted to see Sasha and so did i so we went down to the 2nd main stage where Sasha had just started his set, and he was better than ever.. it was if he saving his best tracks for ultra..his mixing was sooo seemless that it literally felt like one looong track..after 40min into the set i went back up to the main stage to catch the end of Oakey's set.. lol wtf is wrong with him?? he's still playing PPK - Reload and CJ Bolland - The Prophet.. heh, then Tiesto came on and played one of the best sets i heard from him in a whiiile.. closeded with Strange World 2000 remake and threw on Lethal Industry for an Encore(give it a rest already!!) Ok then the ing highlight of the night UNDERWORLD !!!!!!! once again these guys from UK had me screaming from beg. to end..my friends who couldnt catch them @ Hammerstein totally redeemed themselves that night.. wow what a performance.. words cant describe it :toothless now the final artist of the night Paul van Dyk.. like Brianna said, WTF happened to his CD or the CD player !!!????? that skipped so bad that everyone noticed and it really killed the vibe\energy.. and the tracks he layed down afterwards were sounding stale..(Clocks, For an Angel, Carrera 2[NuNrg]) and i left around 12:30am.. hey even monkeys fall off the tree sometimes know whaty i mean? :toothless well i had an amazing time and i def. will do it again.. ppl who missed out this year, pleeeeeese experience it next year or @ Ultra 5 1/2 in NYC in the fall.. but since were from NYC, being in Miami made it a little more special:D oh, sorry for the long ass review.. u donmt understand, it cant be decribed in just few words hehe;) |

since dj tek mentioned Ultra in NYC... will probably be good (and I hope it is), but I think it's better in Miami cuz there's more eye candy, and there's something about the place that makes them more willing to show more skin.
And back on South Beach, the spring breakers might be a bit clueless but they're fun to watch too. Does anyone know if any of them became musical converts? |

the guy who kept getting on the mic during tiesto's set (probably a radio dj from 93.1) screamed "Ultra 6 in NYC Sept. 2003!!!!!!!!!!" btw, that guy needed to dance more and talk less. :p |
