Yeah those sets are decent, however I saw him at Guv in Nov of 01...meh...I will probably hit up the DnB party on Sat knowing me.

I think the crowd had a big influence on his performance that night.

I will be there, Jules commands REspect whenever he is in town.

Yeah I agree...his set then wasn't as trancey as sets I'd heard at Gatecrasher and from Trance Energy. However his last set at Tonic was definitely more trance and he played to the crowd more. Crowd was more into it than that time at Guvt. Though have to say a lot of our local DJs were in attendance. Many of them said they were there out of respect for what he's done for the scene as a whole.

I think he'll rock it at System - he seems to feed off the vibe of the crowd. From what I've experienced at System on Fridays, I think it'll be his best outing here.

for me it doesn't matter if a DJ will move the crowd or not because do i even care if the people are dancing or not? its the music that's suppose to make you dance, the DJ is just person who shows what style of music he loves (at least thats what i think). lately i came to realize that there is all this hype around the so-called top DJ's in the world and yet when they come they usually dissappoint. i rather see local DJ than some top trance DJ because i KNOW he'll play a better set. the only reason why local DJ don't get that so much support is because their suppose to be the warm up DJ  most of the time they steal the shows :D but anyways ofcourse there is a dozen very good DJ's and thats a different story.
as to Jules, he's a real wanker! he only puts up decent sets once in a while.

The DJ is not just a person. He is up there to perform, not just play records. I think it is safe to say that DJing is indeed an art, therefor the DJ is an artist. There is always hype around international DJs because we only get to see them a couple of times per year.

I have had a discussion about locals and out-of-towners with people. I think that locals should be able to move a crowd much better than any out of towners, why? They play to that same crowd every week and they know exactly what they want and what sounds get them moving. International DJs do not have the benefit of knowing how the crowd will react beforehand, this makes their job super-difficult. So when we say international guests don't play as good of a set, it's understandable why.

The true test of a local DJs abilities comes when they themselves play in another city for the first time. I can guarantee you that the chances of them 'stealing' the crowd is very small.

what you say is true, however when you go to see a guest international dj, you go with certain expectations of the type of music they will be playing as you had heard them play before, be it their live sets, their mix tapes/cds or having heard them before live(that goes for any dj playing any genre)...
