New Club Space Review

Flight got in late wednesday, dropped off baggage then straight to space where there was a line a block long, but it was worth it. got in around 12:00, caught about 30 min of Hernan Cattaneo. Then Oakey, played a good set, loved Armin - Blue Fear and more other goodies. Then Tiesto dominated, what an amazing amazing set, from uplifting to progressive techy. problem was that twice the system shut down for like 3-5 minutes. went up to the terrace for Mauro and wow, was awesome. As for the club, huge, and great lights and lasers and gotta love those cold air blasts. system was great, was really impressed with the outdoors terrace system. Ran into so many NY'ers TA's and others. I guess all recognized me by the green glasses, haha. Was very packed, but a great night nevertheless.

Thursday was same experience, Steve Porter was amazing, didnt care much for James Zabiela, but then Sasha & Digweed were out of this world, much better set from Sasha than last time at Roxy. Sander Kleinenberg was incredible. Wow, was dancing away at 8AM with the sun out outside, but the crowd didnt seem to care it was daylight.

Fri was a disaster for me, first of all could hardly stand on my feet, was so tired. I liked Edgar V's hard style, but was hoping for uplifting set from PVD, but got more hard house, way to hard for me that night. was sitting with Brianna next to the speaker then they turned up the sound system soooo high that I we had to move, i couldnt believe it. Ive been to loud clubs, but nothing as loud as this, my ears couldnt take it. so i left the room but couldnt get back in later because it was too crowded. was pissed, so i left.

Altogether, I like Space but would be great if not way to crowded like it was.

Many people seemed to feel that the old Space was better, and I have to agree...this new one is too "Mega-Club" feeling...the DJ is too far removed from the crowd and the high ceilings give the acoustics too much room to bounce around.

By far one of the best parties of the Conference this year @Space was Bill Patrick's set on the terrace. What an f'in surprise. That party went off like no other I have ever seen. True heads, everyone dancing and sweating their b+lls off, plenty of room to dance, meatheads and strippers GONE, and simply the sickest musical vibe I have heard in a long, long, long, time. FRESH. Those dozens or so of us around to experience that will not forget it in a lifetime. I can STILL see the smile on everyone's faces and the rush to Bill to congratulate him as soon as he got off the decks. Amazing.

personally, I like the new Space better than the old one. But I see the point about the high ceiling and the sound bouncing. The sound system in fact sucks, but I don't remember how it was at the old Space.

As for the place being crowded, it wasn't really packed at all for PvD, b/c they didn't let as many people into the club, apparently on order from the fire marshals.

When was the Bill Patrick set? Would have loved to see that!! Seems like the morning sets were the best - Steve Lawler on Friday morning (i.e. after the S&D night) was INCREDIBLE also.

mmh guys i am sorry but i think the soundsystem there rocks. it's perfect, loud, doesnt hurt your eears like other places. :):):)

the 2nd floor is indeed weird. when there is too many people jumping and dancing it kinda bounces.. you can feel it moving, cool feeling though. I was up there on wednesday for tijs and some people got scared like "what if this falls" lol :p

yeah it is loud, but it does hurt your ears. Mine are still ringing as I type this :eek: I could feel it big time and in fact on Saturday for Deep Dish I put some tissue in my ears b/c I couldn't take it anymore. Shoulda done that the nights before, too.

I thought the new Space was almost perfect. I saw PVD there Friday night. I never saw the old Space but was very impressed with this venue. Best way to describe it is, it had the sound system of Tunnel, the light show of Glow, the dancefloor of Exit, with the vibe from Twilo. Best part about Miami clubs is you never get searched. I expected a long line and ended up walking right in with no hassle at 11.

When I first got there I thought that little floor when you walk inside was the main floor. The main floor wasn't open yet and everyone was packed into that room. I went to the restroom, came out, and saw everyone flooding into the main hall. I went nuts, because I haven't heard such a good sound system in years. PVD rocked the place when he came on. Started off hard, went into prog, went hard again, went back to prog and some tech, and then did his hard closing. I missed the closing because I knew I had to wake up for Ultra the next morning and didn't want to be too tired.

Love the club.

May the management and security staff burn in hell (a bouncer named House is exempted).

hmmmm space.

cold air=rocks
system = my ears are ringing still
security= don't get me started. those bastards.
dancefloor= SLIPPERY
crowd= groovy
terrace= lot of trashy skanks/sluts when i was there in the am. eeew.
bathrooms = clean. (thanks for taking me, missy! :))
vibe= depended on performer. i liked the S&D crowd on the main floor best.

All in all, I liked space. The cold air was the best. I was not blown away by the system. The balcony reminded me of EXIT also. I had fun, for sure. Would def go again.

I'm not really too impressed with the new Space 34. I will miss the old Space. Many memories :D :D :D

Any one from Miami has gone to Spi Club, formarlly Club Spin. Seems to me it looks just like Space 34. Obviously, Space 34 is way bigger, but looks too similar. W/E Nothing I can do about it. Guess I'll have to adapt.

I'll still be going to Space 34. Nothing else better to do! :haha:
