I don't know, that album is waaaay to slow, I've heard GUs but this one I must admit lacks any high points. At one point it just becomes background noise when you listen to it :/

I have a few GUs. They're nice! But background noise/prog makes me sadddddddddddddd/sleepy. *yawns*:o

I agree, this GU was way to mellow and chilled for my liking and I was a little surprised with Nick Warren's selection. He use to rock it, I guess he's showing his age. :(

GU 25 - should bring the box boys back on even ground juding by the set from the Guverment. Can't wait.

Been listening to the Promo copy of GU 24 for a few weeks now and I have to agree that it is one of the most refreshing changes that the GU series have taken. As far as it being mellow, well yes...Disc 1 is more chillout, but don't let that deter you from picking it up. The 2 CD collection is definately one that will grow on people who enjoy intelligent electronic music. Nick Warren has been able to muse a blend of ambient, atmospheric trance and progressive melodics to create a compilation which works in the car stereo just as well as on a loud system.

Disc 1 for me is definately the stuff off after hours or during one of those rainy days when you just want to listen to something that will transport you to another world.

Disc 2 is more upbeat, more progressive, but in the classic warren style always maintaining a great sense of melody. I prefere Disc 1, but Disc 2 definately has a few great tracks. "Rise" in particular is destined to become huge !

It's unfair to compare this GU with anything that has come before it, because the idea behind GU was always to push the limits. Personally, I don't think this GU is better then Lavelle's previous effort (that one was just so eclectic and unique it really stood out). But having said that, this one definately outclasses the one's done by Emerson and Deep Dish.

With the many rumours that this might indeed be the last of the GU series that is released, i have to say that Mr Warren has definately created a set of mixes which are quite special. Go out and get it, you will definately not regret it.

I already regret wasting my bandwidth on downloading those promo copies of it...

But then again, I'll keep it around for when I need something to put me to sleep (that CD1 sure is great in a mellow ambient kinda way)...
