What would you do if your mate went out with your sister ? (pg. 3)

I am actually one of those that experienced this. My best friend (since primary school) went out with my sister for the best part of a year.

They broke up, and none of us talk anymore. I urge all of you to not let your best friend date your sibling, because you're ALWAYS caught in the middle and no matter what you do, you'll take some of the weight when there is a fallout, or a breakup.

In my case, I took a lot of weight that I shouldn't have.

If I had a sister, I would be dating her myself... :D

seeing my sister happy would make me happy... whatever her date is: my best friend or a guy much older than her.

I'd hate it if she dates a friend of mine, seeing all the stupid we do to girls our selfs :D (yes double standards)

and say she hooks up with a friend, then it ends up quite bad, who's side are you gonna be on?
can you still be friends with a guy who hurt your sis. or can you have a good relation with your sis. she knowing you are friends with a guy that hurt her
well my sis is too young, so there are no chances anyways

For me it would depend on alot of things, for a friend to date my sisters.

1. If the guy was really your friend he would have the manners to ask if it would be okay with you. That is a sign of respect. it's not that you own her or anything, it's the fact he knows things may change between you and him and wants to know how you feel.

2. Your friend's history: if you and your friend are swinger-like party goers who multiple girls at a time and trade them like baseball cards together, then maybe this isn't the guy for your sister.lol however, if you have known this guy for long time and seen how serious he is about his relationships, and has a good sense of responsability then maybe i wouldn't have much of a problem with it.

Like any guy dating my sister i make it clear that if a guy hurts my sister on a physical level i will kill him. :whip: however, my 19 year old sister is big girl and she has to learn how to pick and choose the good apples from the bad on her own. other wise she'll never find the right man for her. dating all together is an experience, every one needs these experiences to teach us how relations with people work at such close intimate levels. By watching over her like a hawk is going to make things difficult and may push her in the wrong direction, so i just stand by am make "big brother" comments and let her do what she wants and i back her up when she really needs it.

Let them get on with it, but tell him to take care of her. You cant stand in the way, its not fair and it would only push them together more.

P.S - I dont have a living sister so I could be wrong about this. Maybe you guys with sisters get really bad about it?

It's because... when you're older than your sister, you feel like protecting her, so anyone would rather see her with someone that will make her happy than an useless prick who will only be playing with her feelings.

and about brothers... for cultural reasons you expect him not to get involved in messed up relationship, but, if I ever saw him getting into it and hurting someone, I would gladly kick his arse too.

i dont hav the rite to control my sisters life so no i wouldnt hav a problem with it. If he's good enuf to be my friend then why would he not be good enuf to be with my sister?

^^ I agree with ya all.

It feels kinda strange when your mate tells ya that your sister was hitting on him the other night when he was over your house or sth.Pretty akward. and you're gonna be in the middle of everything.Having to back up you sis and mate @the same time.So what do you do?..Leave them settle things by themselves or interfere?
I don't feel so comfortable with the idea. It could strengthen the relationship between you and your sister, and also with your mate. Get more close. But, In the case of a break-up, thing will get pretty ed up. I wouldn't like some bastard to go out with my sis, and I've warned her about nasty guys who wouldn't treat her alright when I sawed her hanging out with them, but, it could alter greatly the relationship between me and my friend. Doesn't this sound a bit selfish?
