manufacturing and releasing a whitelable?

Ok here's the situation.
I will be sending an onslaught of demos out within April to a pile of lables (some trance some tribal). If I dont get any possitive feedback within a month or two I think it would be time to take matters into my own hands.
I am considering manufacturing my own whitelable release on 12". I would get 500 copies made. Now my question is how do I distribute these to record stores? Are there any distribution companies that would be willing to deal with me? or will I have to manually make deals with individual stores?
Any insight into this matter would be appreciated, thnx! |

I would think you'd have to make deals with individual stores.
I would suggest going down to release and asking someone there. They sell a ton of whites, and their presence is known far outside Toronto... |

firstly if your sending out your material to labels and are getting no reply its either because your sending the stuff to the wrong kind of labels, your style doesnt fit with their style or no offence but your stuff isnt good enough for a general release yet!
releasing a white label is a lot of hassle, effort and money! if it doesnt sell very well then youve wasted alot of money and time on a track! my opinion is to keep your money and make the track really stand out and then send it to more labels! |

I have done alot of research into the lables I will be sending my demos out to, and they release tracks similar in style to my own. I have recieved a tremendous amount of positive feedback for some of my tracks, and I personally feel that some of them are good enough for a vinyl release. Actually one of my tribal tracks was supposed to be released on an upcomming Ontario lable, TSR, but the lable owner is reconsidering the launch of this lable altogether.
and Michael Russo, going to release would be a good idea. i think they know the buisness pretty well, and i dont think they'd mind answering a few questions. actually I could even post a question similar to this on their forum. it would save me bus/subway money! ;) |

Na... just go down and buy some vinyl :)
You're not that into prog though, are you? Cause they have some awesome whitelables that I picked up last Friday.
Inquire about what type of music Release Elements and Release Grooves will be releasing... their main label (Release) is prog, but perhaps Elements or Grooves will be tribal? Maybe they'll sign you? I'm not sure, maybe there's some info about the musical styles on their site. |

Release Records (main lable) is progressive, but many of their releases share elements of both progressive and tribal. Their new Release Elements is kind of strange from what I've heard. More techno-ish. I havnt heard anything about Release Grooves.. Im guessing it would be more break beat than anything. Some of my tracks are abit progressive sounding though, and they are similar in style to some of release's tracks. I'll send them a copy of my demo when it's ready.
Thanks for the link modular, I checked it out but they would be more expensive than the company I would use here in Toronto.
MMS Direct. Costs $1549.00 CND for 500 copies, 1 colour lable, sleeves and jackets. they also seem very flexible with their options, so I could get coloured vinyl, full colour jackets/lables, clear bags, plastic wrap, whatever I would want. |
