packed bumper to bumper. hot as an oven. the master of the mixes on the decks spinning tunes definitely more harder than it was uplifting but man... was the atmosphere electric !
all i knew of pvd before sun night was that he was cool-as-a-cucumber and that he was the mastermind behind the legendary "for an angel" (which mr van buuren himself dropped at TT sydney much to the crowd's overwhelming delight).
however, my opinion and appreciation for him changed after the first few tracks. incredible mixing (never heard anything more deep and smoother) combined with the occasional smile, waving, signing autographs and an absolutely energised crowd made this more than a top night. it was magic.
highlights for me included mandrake children (WOW!) and for your love (ABSOLUTE TUNAGE x2 !!). major props to Nervous for a fantastic build-up (Cafe Del Mar OMG !) and for that dude with the "Annual 2000" shirt tearing up the dance floor to the beat of his own drum from the moment we entered the room and Flipside was doing his thing. also great to have met fellow TA's webmeister, helen, ballistic, Mr and Ms Vandit... and anyone else i did/didn't bump into (there will be a next time!). damn what a night.
definitely up there with AVB @ TT Sydney as one of the the best sets i've had the pleasure of experiencing so far. |

It's great that you guys had a great time!
That's another great event to add to the list this year.
Trance is definitely not dead!
I would've went if it was on Saturday.
I couldn't sacrifice Monday due to a tight project schedule.
Maybe I'll go next year.
I hope the photos are good! |

I've finally surfaced, and am still in awe of the night.
So many good tunes, lots of them were new to me.
PvD played a lot harder than I expected, but I really enjoyed it.
I had such a fun night, especially thanks to all the people that put up with my randomness. Cam, Helen, Joel, CrasherKid (did the ringtone work ok?), Sidney, djway (I think you were the guy talking to Gav, but I didn't meet you), Chookie, Bragi, Ms Vandit ... people I've forgotten
Where were Ves and Ash last night? Guys you have to get fake IDs soon.
I'd love to get copies of the photos you all took if that's possible. Ms Vandit took quite a few, and her camera looked pretty impressive (a canon G2 I think?)
Andrew James after PvD played a whole tonne of trance from '99/2000 similar to PvD's style back then. Tracks like PPK - resurrection (wellenbrach mix) and PPK - Hey DJ (not sure what mix, might be a new one), He played FAA as his last track, which brought the house down.
I listened to Politics of Dancing CD 2 on the way home to Canberra, and realised that a whole lot of the tunes I didn't know were on it. I've gotta get a copy of it sometime (borrowed it from the mate I came up with)
Overall great night, have to catch up with you guys next time I'm in sydney. |
