I don't know about you guys, but one of the reasons I love sports so much is the statistics. I just love hearing and analysing player's stats and knowing obscure records and the like. It's so fascinating. That's why I like sports such as baseball so much because it is stat heaven :D
Anyway, I was just browsing the Opta website. They keep very comprehensive stats of most European football/rugby leagues. Here's something I found fascinating: In the Premiership this season, 25% of all goals were scored in the last 15 minutes of the match.
Also according to the "OPTA Index", Arsenal owns in three categories:
Midfielder: Viera
Attacking Mid: Pires
Striker: Henry
Sweet :D |

| Robbie Fowler scored a hat trick in 5 minutes against Arsenal back in 94-95. The fastest premier league hat trick. |

| I don't go out looking for obscure facts or anything, but I retain numbers pretty well. However I enjoy analizing numbers in baseball. |

Wow, that's pretty quick. Here's the hockey version of that record: On March 23, 1952, Bill Mosienko of the Chicago Blackhawks scored a hat trick in 21 seconds. I feel bad Lorne Anderson (the goalie) for getting pulled before half a minute had even gone by in the game. |

nope, he did it in the first half of the third period. His team won 7-6 too.
Fastest goal from the start of a period:
4 seconds, shared by Claude Provost and Denis Savard.
Another impressive one:
Most points in a period: 3G 3A, by Brian Trottier |

I live for stats!!! I even try to find out how the guys come up with stats in the first place. From GAA in Hockey to NCAA Football Computerized Bowl Placings, to baseball stats, footaball completion percentages, basketball field goals too. The list goes on!
Of course I'm bound to not know a certain stat due to the fact that I have a life and all. But when you talk about setting records such as the quicket hattrick recorded, that's a different story. |

| I have a friend who can tell you anything you wanna know about baseball. Like who was the first round draft pick of the pirates in 1975. It is amazing to see him at work. And can you believe when he is 20 he will own his own Outback Steak house. |
