i keep getting these dumbass messages because "windows messenger" is integrated in XP
ironically one of those spam messages told me about http://www.byebyeads.com/ which can supposedly stop it
i knew there'd be a catch because of how i came across the link, i go there and they want me to pay for it, not gonna happen
so does anyone know where i can get a prog like this for free? im sick of these stupid popup messages
to better understand what i'm on about take a look at that website
anyone else get these?
i've also got some weird thing where icq, msn and aim all sent messages, by themselves, containing a spam link to whoever im talking to:whip:

windows messenger that sends the spam is not the same as msn mesenger. it is there for no reason really, to disable it, goto controll panel - admin options - then select services, look for the one titled messenger or windows messenger and set it to disabled. this wont affect msn messenger or any other messeging program apart form this, which is hardly used for any usefull purpose anyway
as to you sending the spam run adaware www.lavasoft.de and see if that picks up any running spyware programs (you will get a fair few hits from cookies, dont worry about them, only worry about registry keys and programs) |

thanks, i disabled windows messenger
i've been using ad-aware for about a year and that spam still happens in messenger programs, i'll upgrade to version 6 though |

| I do remember once seeing a program that did that for msn messenger, it went "heres my new photo download this" and it sent a exe file, i cant remember what it was called though, it didnt do any real harm, it was released to show that harm could be done... try a email to the support@msn, icq etc to see if they know about these messages and how to get rid |

ouch, it could well have installed its self with a program like kazza etc that is free but uses spyware to get its £££ (or$$$) however there are alternatives that dont have spyware such as kazaa lite etc |

adaware kind of sucks ass.
ive been having this recurring problem on my computer where something flashes over in the right toolbar. i know its some form of spam/spyware but adaware never catches it. then i was told about spybot:
http://security.kolla.de/
i downloaded this, ran it, and it found around 8 things wrong with my computer (registry hacks, even some stuff in winmedia player)... and it lists things that are or arent "hostile". i am EXTREMELY impressed with it, considering this is all that adaware couldnt find. spybot has lots of new definitions in it, etc. i highly recommend trying it out. my toolbar hasnt flashed since! and i stopped some other nasty things from going on as well |

i tried it and found plenty of stuff ad aware didn't inc. MS works and media player
i've noticed ad-aware doesn't find everything, i used to have this spyware thing that installed itself every time i started the computer and ad-aware did nothing, i had to find it and uninstall it myself
thanks for the link |
