Sure-fire way to tell trance apart from house? (pg. 4)

ALl I was saying, is you might like one more then the other, but you can't say one genre is better then the other.

And Trance is big in the rave scene, and mostly hard trance at that right now. But Digweed and a lot of house DJ's are huge. Even DnB is huge now. Trance is jsut one of many being used in the electro scene. Hell, half of the people raving in the USA are into breaks and prog. So trance isn't as big as it used to be, but I still love it, and it's still growing.

I only quoted him because it lead to a bunch of retarded follow ups. Then I noticed he's a JunkXL fan. And then to say house is dull... Kind of ironic. But then again, a lot of the idiots on this board say like this every day.

First of all - only Junkie XL's newer stuff is prog house. Try to compare his earlier works to, say, Beauty Never Fades and tell me what's duller.

Second - I was talking about plain house, which to me is nothing but a watered down beat and a funky bass/guitar line. I don't really count prog house or hard house into a general "house" genre because they're significantly different.

Nah, never been a big fan of it... It's OK but comes nowhere near Synasthesia or Future in Computer Hell (Part 2).
I also have the original version of the album that doesn't contain Bon Voyage at all...

House have moved into 3rd place in my fav genre's, trance being tops, and hi-nrg trance being second.

Deep house is the kind I like, not too keen on the discoey type of house, or prog.

Check out these for great deep house:

EBTG vs Soul Vision - Tracy in my Room

The Groove Foundation - That Feeling (De Poniente mix) <-- my fav funky track, I even bought it on 12" (only funky 12" I own)

Angie Stone - Wish I didn't Miss You

These are class choons, dunno why house gets so much bad press, it makes a great change of pace, and the ladies are MUCH fitter in the house scene ;)

I dont' like disco house either, but that's just 1 form of house. There's tribal, prog, hard, melodic. Just don't blanket the whole genre. And Even JunkyXL's 0 to 9 is proggy.

It's Junkie XL's "Zerotonine"... and it may be proggy but it has nothing to do with house.

it's interessting to see how many ignorant people there are on this forum. you guys are no better than the rappers/rockers who think all electronic music is just 'beats'. If you don't like house then stfu and mind your own business, the man asked for a way to tell trance and house apart, not who likes house and who doesn't

Good post. Man, nothing more annoying then one of my non-electronic music friends saying "so your a gino now?" when I play trance or house...pisses me off
