War ended communisim by containing its spread, and threatening it's end by destroying the whole world if it becomes commy ;) |

I'm reminded of a scene in Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", where the People's Front of Judea are holding a meeting, and the leader asks "What have the Romans ever done for us?"
He's then greeted with a plethora of answers, ranging from public health to education. War is really very similar. We may not like it, but without war, we never would have achieved so many of the things we have a species. It is the sacrifices of our ancestors that have allowed us the life of relative ease we now enjoy. Are we really so selfish that we are unwilling to do the same for our descendants?
Of course, that has nothing to do with the merits or demerits of a specific conflict, so it would certainly be a glittering generality fallacy to assert that this fact means that the war in Iraq is justified. I don't believe we can know if it is justified at this point, because I think the answer is dependent on the conduct of Bush and his cohorts following the resolution of the conflict. |

| Technically, NOTHING ended communism, because communism still exists today. |

And roads too, yes and entertainment! That was a great part I was ROFLOL, the time I watched it and no one else got it so. It just rang so true with all these rebel groups.
As for slavery war did end it in America. |
