| Nowadays it's more like which u prefer, both are good. With Intel on most cases more is actually less when compared to AMD. But that's not the whole secret. AMD might have more calculating power with less GHz, but it also heatens up much more than Intel processors. I'd go for AMD but it's really up to which u like.. |

Im getting an Intel 2.4ghz this weekend.
Ive had about 3 or 4 amd's in my lifetime, its time for intel ;)
I chose Intel because it should be quieter and should run faster (i think 533 mhz compared to 266 mhz amd), also intels should be cooler and a volcano 7+ or other cpu cooler is probably not needed.
Another thing about AMD
AMD 2000+ ghz = AMD 1.67 ghz core speed
AMD 2400+ ghz = AMD 2.00 ghz core speed
....i hope people knew about this.
Intel 2.4 ghz = Intel 2.4 ghz
Prices should work out the same for both processors if you add in a cpu cooler on the AMD.
Can anyone confirm what im saying? |

the great AMD v Intel debate!
if moneys not a problem go for a intel, they just have a bit more quality (like when the p4 was made, intel recomended a certain size heatsink, and support for this heatsink on the mobo, meaning no cracked cores, as well as the extra 2 12v lines going into the mobo for the extra power the p4 needs, you dont see these much on amd motherboards (although abits new nforce board has the extra 12v support))
also dont spend all your money on a new processer, look at your memory and video card to, as you could get a more "usefull" perforamce boost by geting more ram or a faster video card than just geting a faster processer |

The common characteristics of Lower Clocked Thoroughbred B CPU:-
-Can run well at FSB more than 200MHz (DDR400)
-Requires as low as 1.4v or max. 1.8v to run stable at 2GHz 2400+
-Very low heat dissipation if running with default voltage
-Have very high potential of breaking 2250MHz 2800+ barrier if using more than 1.9v for 1.6v version
-Have very high potential of breaking 2400MHz 3100+ barrier if using more than 1.9v (for 1.5v version)
Until today 23rd March 2003, the most overclockable Thoroughbred JIUHB 1700+ are as follow:-
Stepping Code Average OC @ 1.6v Vcore Average OC @ 1.9v Vcore
0302 XPCW UT3C 2GHz 2400+ 2.25GHz 2800+
0302 MPMW UT3C 2.2GHz 2700+ 2.4GHz 3100+
0304 MPM UT3C 2.2GHz 2700+ 2.4GHz 3100+
0307 VPMW LT3C 2.3GHz 2900+ 2.5GHz 3200+ <-----i have this for $70
0308 RPMW LT3C 2.2GHz 2700+ 2.4GHz 3100+
0309 UPMW LT3C 2.3GHz 2900+ 2.5GHz 3200+
0310 WPMW LT3C 2.3GHz 2900+ 2.4GHz 3100+
0310 XPMW LT3C 2.3GHz 2900+ 2.4GHz 3100+
I myself will have the following considerations before buying a good CPU, the more important consideration comes first:-
The batch production serial number of CPU should be as small as possible, eg 0001.
It is better to choose a LT3C over the UT3C for Tbred B.
Production date and stepping code must be as latest as possible.
Die color has to be in single color, consistent, light reflective.
Choose a “27” ,”25”, “26” instead of “24” and “28”.
Production batch alphabet should be as earlier as possible, like A instead of M, but not necessary true.
Read more from others’ experience before you purchase your desired one |

i think to a p4 2.4ghz system the amd is cheeper, after 2.4 ghz the intell is cheeper, cant find the site where i saw this though. |

| Measures on intel and AMD processors about 6 months ago showed that intel where ahead o performance. But AMD tend to be the cheaper option. I myself would go for intel if i had the money. But AMD processors r pretty good, although can have problems with power issues as most people who have them will know :D |
