if u were homosexual,
would u be ok with telling ppl that u were, or would u be afraid of telling them and why would u be afraid..

this question goes the same way for anything else a memmber of the kkk, being wiccan, being bi whatever it may be

why would u be afraid of saying it out in the open that u were or do sertin things.. and i'm not talking about braggin about it but just setting the story stright about who u really are.

it has to do with self-image and insecurity - most people are afraid of what other people think of them, afraid that they won't be accepted (and sometimes this 'paranoiia' gets really severe, they start hurting themselves and such...)

some people are even afraid to admit to some of the things they've done because they think they'll be looked down upon (for example, sitting on your computer every friday and saturday night instead of going out - and other days of the week as well). it's just that they're afraid of not being up to the society's standards.

so then why do we/other have to be so crule and strick with society standers
as in why do we give off that impression

if i was gay i dont think i would have a problem telling people. this is probably due to a) my open minded parents, and b) the ppl i hang around with wouldnt really care either way.

i think im pretty lucky in that way, a lot of ppl would b scared because the ppl the hang around with use the word gay as an insult.. idiots.

Well... I wouldn't be afraid if it were my real identity... in fact, I think it's time to tell:

I'm left-handed, vegetarian and lesbian! :D

Yes, I write with my left hand, I don't eat meat and I like girls...

So, say it: who are you all?!

there's the aspect of self-confidence and how you wanna be seen by people BUT there's also the more "practical" side of it, the often negative consequences which are a FACT in our not-yet-perfect world.

I wouldnt have a problem telling any one. U are who u are and shouldnt hide from that fact. Ur parents will always love you so you should b able to tell them, and if your friends do change towards you then they are not true friends and aint worth knowing

Because people have the need of being accepted in a social group: they often need to feel they're part of something, that they're welcome and stuff.

Every group has a "policy" on how people should behave. Even here on TA: spamming, flamming, trolling... this behaviour is not tolerated here - obviously this is a rather dumb example, but we can use this as an analogy for trivial things from daily life.
