hey guys, im doing an advertising project as part of my final year at uni, i was hoping you may take the time to answer a few simple questions about bottled water.
Please, serious answers only, and thanks for your time.
UK based company Belu have devised the first fully
decomposable bottled water, which is actually made out
of corn!!!
The company, whos product is available in some
Waitrose and Tesco stores (UK only at the moment, also give 100% of its net
profits to water schemes in India and Africa. Surely
this responsable outlook on mass produced products is
well overdue.
Some questions (please copy & paste):
Do you buy bottled water?
If so, why?
Do you ever consider its impact upon the environment?
(ie: transport emisssions, plastic consumption, the
throw away culture which ends up in land fill)
Are you loyal to a brand (i.e. evian/vittal/buxton)?
Is price a factor?
Would promotion highlighting the benefits persuade you
to switch to Belu?
Thanks again, dfop |

a friend of mine once ordered water at a bar..
at that moment when the bartender was pouring our drink i walked passed him on the way to the toilet, and i saw him filling a empty water bottle under the tap. i told my friend and we left the bar. |

i buy bw because we have iron in our water and salt from the filtration system. i'm also always on the go and it allows me to hydrate when I'm not near a water source.
i do think about the environmental impact. I buy a gallon container and use it to refill my water bottles. but there are a lot of things that we buy that are worse for the environment like batteries so since a recycleable 1 or 2 plastic is used in water bottles i'm not overly concerned.
I buy a fair about of water so i go with the cheapest so i don't care what brand name it is. after all its water. |

so if the bottle decomposes, wont shelf life be rather limited and moist? |

Do you buy bottled water?
Yes
If so, why?
It quenches my thirst more than other liquids and it taste great. Nothing like some ice cold bottled water when you are parched

(ie: transport emisssions, plastic consumption, the
throw away culture which ends up in land fill)
No I don't consider it's impact on the environment, I do however make my best effort to dispose of it properly
Are you loyal to a brand (i.e. evian/vittal/buxton)?
Poland Spring, Disani, and if neither are available Smart Water
Is price a factor?
Yes, I would go with the cheapest of the 3 listed above, although partial to the container size and shape if the price is even. Prefer the poland spring 1L over Disani's bottle.
Would promotion highlighting the benefits persuade you
to switch to Belu?
I'm not sure 'benefits' is what would persuade me to switch over. I think price is a big factor since it's hard to pull people away from their loyal brands. Even the promotion campaigns that highlight the natural and health concious characteristics of their brand of water often are attached with a heavy price tag. End of the day, it's water, how much would you pay for water? |

Do you buy bottled water? = yes, it's the only water i drink.
If so, why?
because it tastes better than tap water down here.

throw away culture which ends up in land fill)
nope
Are you loyal to a brand (i.e. evian/vittal/buxton)?
figi & dasani
Is price a factor?
no
Would promotion highlighting the benefits persuade you
to switch to Belu?
maybe, but i'd rather just taste it and see if i like it. (yes, i'm sort of a water snob) :p
by the way, does sparkling water count? because i drink lime flavored perier & san pelligrino all the time too. |

Do you buy bottled water?
Yes
If so, why?
usually out of convenience, at airports, on planes etc, places I can't get tap water.

We recycle all of our empty bottles if that counts?
Are you loyal to a brand (i.e. evian/vittal/buxton)?
Buxton is nice for taste, plus it's local to me, the rest i'm not bothered about, and Evian is an anagram of Naive... When abroad we do everything in bottled water as advised by travel agents, but we just use the cheap brand (eg spar or whatever) than the morew expensive, there's no difference in taste imo Strathmore is the best other one :)
Is price a factor?
yes, always buy it from supermarket to take on planes (well that was before it all got banned, one guy once had to pay 2 quid for what i got for 70 pence
Would promotion highlighting the benefits persuade you
to switch to Belu?
possibly, it depends on taste & cost, as for anyone on a budget.
hope that's alright mate |

it's been encouraged here for 10 yrs or so and my dad got us into it by religiously doing it. Now we have seperate collections for tins & stuff, but have to take out bottles to the relevant placess, but talk is that soon we're all going to be charged by weight on the non-recyclable products, meaning if people put their bottles in they'll pay fmore for it. quite a touchy subject right now though ;) |
