What annoys me so much: mixed tracks on Audiogalaxy

(Posted again: I don't know what happened to the first thread, it's broken)
You know, I really dislike when people put mixed tracks on Audiogalaxy without labelling it as Various Artists or:
ID3v2:
artist: (dj, who mixed the compilation) - (original artist)
title: (title)
OF COURSE those ppl label the track normally as artist - title. Lots of trancey freaks like me are only interested in full vinyl/cd rips, so you can imagine how I'm mad when I have to delete about 40% of my fresh-downloaded mp3s because they are mixed !!!!!!!
Older tracks, like from 1999, are almost impossible to get on AG in full version. |

Yea, it sucks!
I have about 20 odd tracks d/l from AG that are ripped from mixes etc... but it is so hard to find a none mixed version of most tracks that i end up keeping them... :(

What bugs me is that ppl complain about this, like vmc. Dude, we don't live in a perfect world and thinks happen, true no tags does bug most ppl but it's reality with audiogalaxy, same with napster (when ppl used it) and any other file sharing application. BTW, i do have all my tags labelled btw. |

How could people liked the mix versions? It's not that big of a deal but it really is a bitch when you find some old track on AG you've been looking for a long time and it turns out to be mixed...especially when you have a 56k. I have broadband so when I get a mixed song I shrug it off and delete it, it would be worse though if I had a 56k. My 2cents... |

how hard is it to differentiate between a mixed file and a vinyl/cd rip? 99.9% of the time i have no problem telling the mixed file apart from the full rip. |

quote: | That's true. I download almost exclusively old tracks from 1998-1999. The rare ones on AG are not full rips, but mainly from very obscure mixed 4CD compilations and mixes by completely unknown DJs. |
Are you sure you're downloading from AG properly. Remember to choose "Exact version" for the track in order to determine if there is a full version of the track. Do this by looking at the time of each track being listed. If some of them are very short like less than 5 mins then don't selected those ones since you can guarentee that they aren't full rips.
Of course full rips are pretty hard to get off AG. Takes a bit of time but I usually get my tunes. If you any problems getting a tune from 98-99, just ask me and maybe I could help you out |

If there is something in the world what we concern as a bad thing, we have to change it, do something about it. Napster was horrible btw, 70% of tracks I had downloaded with it was mixed. It could't have also resume downloads - now that's annoying! |

I only have a 56k...! :sadgreen:
But i have a trick!
When im d/l a track i allways listen to the ''.temp'' file so that i kno if its a mixed version or not...
Also, the extact version is good but sometimes, even if u search and search and think u've found wut could be the full version, it often isnt!

Dude if i was u I would have all ur MP3's backed up on CD cause u will sleep peacefully at nite then:D
But yea I am on a 56K and i cant get an ASDL cause BT "dont believe there is enough depend for it in my rural area" so I tend to ring them from neighbours houses pretending that all the houses are interested in it:mad: , not sure if it will work but its worth a try I think...
But anyway It can be a bit annoyin with the Audiogalaxy mixed tracks, but hey thats life - its free music after all, however the problem would be a lot less if I managed to get ASDL:D |
