The Kitchenware Thread

As I went Christmas shopping, I found an awesome set of black dishware, which is something I had never really seen before (Why are they always white or beige anyway?). I think it will go really well with the rest of my furniture, and it matches my style perfectly, so I think I'm going to buy it as soon as this frantic shopping season is over.

So, while I wait, I want to get some more ideas on how to awesomise me kitchen/dining room. What are some of the coolest things you've got at home?

tbh my pride & joy is quality knives, especially paring, bread and vegetable ones. When they go through stuff with such ease, it makes everything so easy. I want to get some good pans too and a strong mandalin for cutting stuff like lettuce, cabbage etc
tubularbills
can't go wrong w/ a stylish spice rank.

You need a good set to begin with though. Ideally feel them out in the shop for weight & overall hand-grip sensation, once you find something you like then you can't go wrong but as much as you can sharpen cheap knives, they're just not as good .

I cook a lot but I have to make do with some pretty basic instrumentation. What I do have which me and my mom absolutely love is our $10 Black & Decker rice cooker. That thing cooks rice better than anything else out there (short of other rice cookers).

As for knives, I had some Cutco ones as I was selling those for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I sold the knives I had before realiing how valuable they will subsequently be to me. But I actually picked up a couple of paring knoves from an Iranian grocery store the other day and they're ing awesome. And I paid a dollar per knife, and if I want a box of 12 it's only $8.

I have a couple Henkle Knifes and a Global santuku that I really like and I have circulon pots and pans that serve me well.
