Wimbledon 2010

Ok today started the first day of what I consider my favorite annual sporting event, Wimbledon. I don't feel this year there will be any surprises for the final weekend on both sides, a Williams sister will win and either Federer or Nadal will make it to the final. The men's results at the two Wimbledon tuneups won't play much of a factor, Marty Fish and Lleyton Hewitt aren't going to make it past the round of 16 if they get there.

as always i want nadal to win but if not him would enjoy seeing a new guy win a major this time around like soderling, roddick, tsonga or murray. on the ladies' side hoping for venus to win again but i like wozniacki, azarenka and jankovic

nadal is pretty hot.

is wimbledon broadcast on network tv in the us? one thing that is great about the world cup is i can see all the games without having to have cable tv. a lot of tennis tournaments only have games broadcast on cable, and i refuse to pay for tv.

yep he sure is ;).

for the 2 weeks it is on espn2 on weekdays and nbc on the weekend.

edit - world cup games are on espn which is cable...do you have espn3 online?

Oh, that's less than I thought. You mentioned ESPN2 in your previous post for the tennis though?

listed the channels you can watch the matches, although only nbc is free but she mentioned she can watch the world cup and that's on espn.

Ah, ok. Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought maybe you guys had a free sports channel or something :p

around these parts it's the above 6 + a local channel + 3 spanish channels. :stongue:

as for wimbledon, pretty pumped about this year, watching it alongside some WC action. always going to hope for scotsman andy murray to win one for the brits, and my man gael monfils.

federer looked pretty shaky yesterday against galla, but took advantage of galla cramping up between the 2nd and 3rd sets.

as for the women's draw, i'm pumped about the return of the belgian assassins (clijsters/henin). i'm sure this year the women can make some tough competition to stop the williams sisters from reaching the semis. the fourth round could be interesting with a melanie oudin-venus matchup.
bananas
First lithuanian evar had beaten the qualifiers and got into wimbledon:wtf: and he actually won the first match!
His name is Ricardas Berankis, which is pretty ironic, since 'Berankis' would mean 'handless' :D

yay! go Roger! go Del Potro and go Radwanska and Wozniacka!

that Nadal is so hot right now...
chimera66
