Im considering picking up a couple of sample packs in the primeloops sale (2 for 1).. however.. cant decide if i should get them in live pack format or in wav format.
if i get wav i could use them for other stuff later if i should switch DAWs or whatever easy.. and the live packs are 30% smaller than wave, not sure if thats just lossless packing or loss of quality?
on the other hand having them preorganized in live format is nice...
thoughts? |

I mean that you're asking a silly question, made all that much sillier because it pertains to FX loops. Furthermore, you're asking people who have no idea who you are to make a decision for you. If you honestly want to know what I'd do, I'd take the .wav file, so long as it's rendered at 96 kHz, 24 bit. Personally, however, I wouldn't pay for much of anything prefabricated by a third-party. Not that I'm knocking 3rd party developers. It's just not my style, see. Not my modus operandi, my schtick, the side my bread is buttered on, or to put it yet another way, not how I roll.
Chances are you're going to get some advice that goes every which way from Sunday. Why? Because, everyone has their own way of working with sound. Some people don't suffer from my misplaced sense of perfectionism and will tell you 44 kHz, 16 bit is perfectly fine. They'll say, go with acid loops because Ableton will take it like a white bitch takes black cock, yo. They'll tell you they made a million dollars on their last Beatport statement when they plugged in Joe Blow's third-party canned goods, pre-matched and all that fancy-schmancy, plug-n-play crapola.
It doesn't matter. It don't mean anything, to a young, impressionable kid like you. And I gotta be honest with you, kiddo, you got somethin' about you that I like. Maybe it's the lights reflecting off those baby-blues of yours and how you eagerly leap into the big boy side of the public pool. You got moxy, kid, and it'll take you to the Moon and back, but'cha gotta know, kid. You just gotta know. The great White Way of being a Super-Star producer ain't all it's cracked up to be and none of the greats - those universal greats everyone agrees on - they never done anything from a jar, they bought at the store.
That's what I'm saying, buddy. You gots to hear me! You can't buy elbow grease at a store. That's gotta come from inside. It's got to come from blood, sweat, and tears! You ever been in love with a girl you just rocked with a three minute wonder? Well, what did you do? Did you roll over, apologizing for being a hack -buddy who couldn't make it last or did you get it back up and finish the job you started? Because that's what it takes! You have to shake it off, whack it up, and get your junk stiff, again! Then you gotta use the right tool, in the right place, at the right time! And if you can't, then she must not mean that much to you. You may as well reach in that drawer and pull out Mr. Stiffy, put it in her hand, and leave the room while you cry yourself to sleep on the couch. Because that's what you're doing, right now, kid! Prefab loops are your dildo and music is a bitch. |

Tell you what, kid. Make a list. I'll tick the ones off I haven't taken. |

I was hoping for someone with knowings of the live pack format to saw a word or two, but hey this was educational! sorta :)
Good luck with the drugs too! That being said wav sounds like a plan - will work no matter where. still wondering why live packs are so much smaller than any other format.
ahh. .they are flac compressed. makes sense. |

I'll get more useful information from the drugs I'm on than you'll ever get from this thread - seriously. |

That's all you had to say, for s sake. Seriously, just stop. You're more of a jaded troll with each passing day.
Ravan - I'd go with Wav. Good format and easily transferable, future proof if you will. |
