I did wonder if it was the same Isoterra. Cheers for the knowledge, Tony.

Superb mix. Really took me away that did!

Absolutely wicked and phenomenal mix, top notch stuff right here. The flow is amazing and you have fantastic mixing skills.

I don't know how this is possible but i had so much fun and at the same time i was totally hypnotized during the first half of this mix, the Breaks part. Then, you mixed Trance in a seamless way and changed the mood, transforming this mix into a stormer and banging one.

Superb.

listened to it today. was out walking and taking care of some business and after i finished my first listen my phonebattery died on me and i was planning to re-listen to thing. yes, it was that good. not a weak point and the mixing was effortless and flowing

Posted by djdk on Jan-06-2013 19:48:

cheers guys, much appreciated

Jack, no gigs coming up at present, alas. I might be playing a couple of tunes at my wedding, but I doubt that counts

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-06-2013 21:11:

Did you get my text this afternoon? I know your phone has been wonky in the past...

Here's this years instalment of what has become an increasingly mislabelled monthly series. In my defence, since the last one I have not only got married, but also cleaned out and sorted my entire mp3 collection (two tasks of some magnitude I'm sure you will agree). This appears to be what I would describe as a techno set, taking in various flavours of the genre. There wasn't much planning that went into this so the mixes a wee bit rough around the edges, but thats the way techno is supposed to be, right?

01. X-Press 2 - Rock 2 House (Plastikman'S Acid House Remix) [Minus]
02. Monaque - Dos3000 (Quivver Remix) [Spring Tube Limited]
03. Christian Smith - Automatic [100% Pure]
04. Wolf & Dax J - Lost In Belgrade [Industry Of House]
05. Axel Karakasis - Gobble [Remain Records]
06. Turic - Crawler [LOT49]
07. M.I.D.O.R - Common Talk [Five AM]
08. A:B:S - Seqtronic [Dead Famous Records]
09. Phil Kieran & Bush Tetras - Snakes Crawl (Unsubscribe Remix) [Phil Kieran Recordings]
10. Infusion - Dead Souls [Marine Parade]
11. Don Ruijgrok - Above Zero [JOOF Recordings]
12. Electric Soulside - Hotspot [LOT49]
13. Stimpack - Dreams Of Victory [Mandarine Music]
14. Dezibelio & Herzio - Nebulose (Charlie Kane Remix) [VIM Records]
15. Coyu - Metavision [Cocoon Recordings]
16. Nicole Moudaber Feat. Hosie - In The Mood (Nicole Moudaber Rework) [MOOD]
17. Magitman - Sputter [Tribal Vision Records]
18. Autophase - Up The Ladder [Dead Famous Records]
19. Joris Voorn - MPX309 [Green]
20. Namito - Marathon (Petar Dundov Remix) [DJ Series]

Posted by Lews on Oct-17-2013 22:33:

I did, but I was kinda drunk and so I can't give you more feedback besides the fact that I liked it

Will definitely give it another listen and get some more feedback for you lol

That is an acceptable excuse...

A load of belters in this one, Dave. Some better than others but this is the type of techno that I like: classic repetition-based EDM with high energy and plenty of variation. I enjoyed working out to this mix. I'm going to do the usual and cherry pick this one, because you have excellent taste. Thanks for this!

Did you ever listen to my latest psybreaks mix?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Oct-30-2013 23:21:

Not quite as sold on this one as your boat party mix, Dave. There were some absolute bangers in here but the programming (perhaps deliberately) seemed to space them out so this mix never got quite enough momentum going for my liking. Other random comments: the opener was really good, but I was a bit disappointed you mixed out of it so quickly (and slightly jarringly). And the Dundov tune, although very nice, felt a bit out of place at the end. The mixing was mostly very good as usual, but it sometimes felt like the levels were a bit off between tracks. The tunes themselves were all very, very good. Overall I'd say the lack of planning is audible, but there are still a few tracks in here I'd like to investigate further. The last I Like This, on the other hand, is still getting plays from me. It's a perfect wake-up-and-go mix for the morning commute.

Bollocks. I was going to use that remix of Obsidian in a mix I'm planning. Now it's just gonna look like I've copied you.

Posted by Lews on Apr-20-2014 18:11:

I used to love messing around with that remix - such a killer. I love that remix of Swarm, too.

Posted by Lews on Apr-27-2014 18:35:

These are really good, Dave, as I expected them to be As always, an excellent job blending new and old tracks. I especially loved the spacey vibes at the end of the second mix. How much are these pre-planned?

Posted by djdk on Apr-28-2014 15:32:

Cheers mate

There was a bit of pre-planning, although a bit more than I'd like if Im honest. My intention is to not spend too much time on planning a perfecting (my wife will be pleased with this), making them more stream of conciousness . I'm working on a new tagging system for all my music which will hopefully allow this to happen much easier.

I do find it difficult to not be an obscene perfectionist when I'm playing at home just for me without the feedback of a crowd or the power of a large system. I tend to over analyse each mix and tune selection and it can kinda suck some of the enjoyment out of it. I'm wondering whether to broadcast on mixlr or similar to get that "live" pressure back on.

Although having said that I was dead chuffed with the way the last three tracks on the second one flow together and that wasn't planned in advance.

Posted by Guest on Apr-28-2014 17:33:

BTW, just out of curiosity, how are you finding the rips of the vinyl tracks you're using? I've always steered clear of playing vinyl rips digitally, more for fear of my inability to properly EQ them live
