Gotta say, I was there, about 15 feet from Oakey when he played that set, and the crowd, like I, f*cking hated it.
He was lousy, real downbeat crap.

It took Jules to come back on after with a hard electro set to get the crowd bopping again. The change in atmosphere was astounding when Jules got going.

Obviously, oakenfolds style does not appeal to massive crowds anymore

My friend saw him in the states a while ago said it was the biggest disappointment, everyone wanted some uplifting or harder sounds and he played his boring ass prog sounds the whole time

i dont think the people dont" like oaky any more becuse his style is not "in" any more but i think its becuse paul Decided to go More Pop then he use to be and the problem is really is that he changed his style to a nasty prog house and another problem is that people dont produce tracks like 98 99 for example so its hurting his sets

+ oakey is like 100 years old he got tired and even said he should not be @ the no" 1 place and he"s just fading awey and the crowd is seeing that

but there where good times

maybe the atmosphere died cos oakey was playing to judge jules fans predominantly! and on the radio it didnt sound as if the atmosphere died

Its amazing what the radio can do to make things sound good, but to be honest I dont much care how it sounded on the radio - I was stood there, I know how it was.
People at festivals are there for fun and good times, slow progressive shite is not the order of the day.
And course it wasnt mainly Jules fans, but Jules mixes it up enough to get something for everyone. Unlike Oakey who thinks he can do what the hell he likes.
It wasn't just me saying it either, practically everyone around me were waving their hands at Oakey in an upward motion, giving him the "up tempo it" signal.

ok! but i bet he was better when he played in the main arena!
i still think oakeys set on jules' show was original tho and not all the tracks were downtempo, maybe ppl thought this jules style is predominatly a lot harder
