TXTA IRC Channel?

So who's up for a TXTA IRC channel? The dominant TA IRC channel right now is probably #ukta on irc.webchat.org, but I can't stand the ircop named cryboy on that server who likes to masskick channels. I mean, he masskicked #armind today during ASOT, and Armin himself was in there too...

Well, I think it would be great if we could have our own community IRC channel somewhere. A server I like to stay on is irc.xelium.net. It's owned by the person who runs another message board I go to, and he's a nice guy. I pretty much trust the administration of that server. What do you guys think?

#txta? ;-)

cos it's oldskool, not all cartoony and sh1t like msn or aim etc, better for having channels with permissions, as many people as the server itself will handle etc... better for direct connection transfers and what you see is what you get.

Good idea mate, I was thinkin about this the other day myself, and was even thinking of running my own irc server instead of having to decide and conform to some other network's rules, but if you're in a hurry to get it going I'm easy! #txta for sure!

IRC is a standard for chatting in groups... it's easy to use, you just connect to a server and talk. Channels are moderated for a reason as well. I really prefer group chatting on IRC than AIM, MSN, or the like any day. IRC is also the most universal.

Rememberence: If you want to, go ahead and create your own server. Whatever works is fine! I really am not in a rush; I just wanted to bring it up. I'll be gone for a few weeks starting Tuesday anyhow. ;-) So I guess the options now... irc.xelium.net #txta or you set up your own server, #txta. =)

I'm come to the conclusion it really isn't worth setting up and irc server for just a txta channel. I'd be happy to do it if I had a server to host it on, but all I have is webspace on a shared server so I'm restricted to installing applications etc. I could host it from home but I don't know how bandwidth intensive it would be on my mediocre connection, plus uptime may be an issue. I think the best and easiest option is to form the channel on an existing irc network.

Anyway, all of you irc nerds out there, we need to decide on the right irc network for the channel to exist on, so start suggesting!

There are some things to consider though, for example, I use undernet a lot as there are some channels on there that I'm a part of... but I don't really like the network because there aren't any nickop and chanop services to administer things (and I can't be fkd setting up bots), and it's annoying that nicknames are restricted in length (can't remember to what)...
