33 rpm to 45 rpm

As a rookie in beatmatching (like 6 weeks new), I was wondering is it more difficult to match vinyl at 33 rpm to one that is 45 rpm? Listening to both vinyil in my headphones I can somewhat get the beats to match for like 10 sec but of course I end up losing it LOL I know it's all about practice so I am cool with that. To me that's half the fun but as far as matching the 2 different rpm's is that more advance to where I am at currently?

no, there should be no difference unless your decks aren't that good at holding the speed.

Cool, just wondering. The setup I got : 2 Technics SL-1200MK2 w/ Denon-300 mixer. So there shouldn't be a problem just more (practice:whip

no, what it is that the vinyl on 33rpm is much more sensitive to speed because it only needs to move slowly to engage the track at a 0% pitch (normal speed). so you only have to touch it lightly but pitch adjust normaly because the decks pitch compesates for 33rpm.

in other words the music is pressed differently between 33 and 45rpm.

physicaly on the record the beats on 33rpm are much closer, where as on the 45rpm the beats are much further apart.

once you get "the ear" it will be no different mixing the both speeds.

The 33/45 RPM has nothing to do with beatmatching. The reason that you can only get the beats to match for only 10 sec. is because they are not 100% matched. This takes alot of practice and training yourself to listen to two things at once.

Some tips: practice with records that are similar and of the same genre, make sure they have nice long intros and outros. Also when you get the records close, make very small adjustments to the pitch.

the speed that the record is playing doesn't matter. In order to beat mix they have to be at very simular TEMPOS. I have a lot of records that play at different RPM's but still beatmix together well.
