Actually I thought disease, famine, and starvation were the biggest killers, causers of pain, misery, and suffering. And those are all non-man made too... |
not really, ever since man walked the earth and had different beliefs from another man and started to have gods, it was then one mans god against another and then the killing ensued.
like the holy wars and crusades of the middle ages to the terrorist actions of today, all brought about by religion, ppl suffer needlessly because thier religion demand it, take jevoh witnesses for example, not allowd to have life saving blood transfusions because it is wrong of thier religion, the amount of roman catholics that had to suffer because of unwanted childbirth because thier religion says they can not use protection, roman catholic women who have been raped, not allowd to abort thier pregnencys because thier religion forbids it, how women suffer in the middle east because thier religions say the male is superior and is allowd to do basicly what he wants, how women and men are killed in iran because they are gay or lesbian, all against thier religions.
Asian indian religions where women are forced into arranged marriages etc etc.
the disease and famine you talk about is also caused partly by religion, in some 3rd world cultures you are considered rich if you have a large family, so you have all those mouths to feed and are unable to because of a religion, Polpot (sp) killed thousands in cambodia because of religion.
even world war 1 has underlying tones of religion that caused thousands of deaths, 9/11 and 7/7 in the UK, the gazza strip, the constant battles that rage there, all down to religion.
With the exception of natural disasters, i am sure you could find religious overtones to every war between the ppl of the planet earth.
