Ah, I assumed you were coming over for a short period.

Yeah, gumtree is good, also just google 'house share' and 'flat share' as loads of useful sites will come up, if you haven't done that already.

I live in Bournemouth but have no idea about the local housing situation. Best bet is looking on Rightmove, but apparently they're expensive. I've been hearing some good things about findaproperty.com too so might be worth looking there as well as Gumtree.

If you need some help with what local areas are like, give me a shout and i'll help best I can as I've been here most of my life.
