Play It Tonight - Formal Apology

Hi TA Users,

We would like to apologize for our recent spamming. You have all of the right to slag, make fun and take shots at me as a person.

You won’t see any more postings from Play It Tonight on TA from now on.

Because we are a new company, we thought that we could benefit (and ultimately that the TA users would benefit because the better the site we have, the more songs we have, the better for Djs) from some different forms of Guerilla marketing. This initial ‘push’ was meant to get some feedback about the store and also to figure out what types of marketing work best for us. One of these types of marketing that we wanted to test out was message board postings. All of our forms of marketing have been a huge success except one; the message board promo stuff.

As you can tell, we found out the hard way that this type of promotion does not work. Even though I have been an active member here for years contributing to the forum (without spamming) I didn’t realize how seriously you take it and, to be honest, I now respect you all for keeping such a close eye on your board. I would like to make it clear that once I got a warning about ‘spamming’ I stopped posting anything, and sending PMs under any accounts (aside from my routine postings in the Western Canada’ thread to support certain shows and promoters).

I would like to make it clear that Play It Tonight is not a shady business despite how it may look otherwise because of these recent message board postings. You should not worry about the integrity of our store or the safety of your information. This was just a case of a marketing idea gone terribly wrong. We tried it and it failed and we will have to pay for it. We want you to know that your info is securely kept on our site (which is secured - https://) and the fact is that even as an owner, I can’t access your credit card information or any other vital information besides your email, name and password. Since our launch in 2003 (as the first dance music download store ever), we have had had one – ONLY ONE – serious customer complaint that came because the customer thought he was buying wavs and not MP3s – even though it says on our front page that we sell MP3s. We still refunded the customer and he still shops at our store.

I know this may leave a bad taste is some TA users mouths but we really hope that this doesn’t affect your overall opinion of Play It Tonight. This was a mistake and I am apologizing for it, to all TA members and I ask for some forgiveness even though I am expecting more flaming than forgiveness.

Have a great day.

~Sean

spaming is one thing, and a bad one, but slagging other companies for no reason at the same time is really lame. that is what makes your campaign so utter shit.

That was my personal opinion. We also complimented a lot of other companies as well.

It's ok that you apologize for that imho, but it won't help. You really made a fool out of yourself.
Real marketing business works completely different from the way you proceeded on this message board.
It would even have not worked if you were a couple of guys independently bumping the thread.

However, it was funny to see Swamper revealing this whole thing

Yeah! Swamper is pretty quick to be able to snag me. That being said, we were warned two weeks ago about spamming and we stopped then. I figure I would have been banned then...

Ridiculous. The best way to get buisness done on TA is to stick an ad in your sig and become a contributing member of our community. Otherwise we could give two shits. This goes for site owners, promoters, DJs, etc. You get out of TA what you put in. If you put in retarded spam, you aren't going to get much out of it now are ya?

This site can be supremely beneficial to a Dj or buisness if approached in the right way. There was a member who did sales for DJ Mart, he contributed in the dj forums a lot and offered TA's discounts and deals- I'm sure he made a fair amount of money that way and also saved a bunch of TA's some dough. The same goes for the countless promoters on this site- if they are contributing members to the community, like DJ/Promoter King Louis in the Montreal section for example - They will end up better with TA than without it. If you get on our bad side however and post mindless shit...

Well...

Pretty self explanatory. We have strict rules here about spam, follow them or get owned by thousands.

Beatport - Glitchy recently with the new Flash 9 that just came out. I hate how you can't go back (it takes you back to the home page). It takes forever to load sometimes. Am tired of the color scheme and spacey design. I am looking for another site even though it has great tracks.

Track It Down - Looks great. I like the DJs they have for charts. Not a great selection of tracks and a slow site.

Itunes - hate it.

Audio Jelly - hate it. The layout is brutal IMO.

Play It Tonight - Fastest site of them all. Needs more content. Easiest download store to navigate. probably my favorite along with beatport.

Dj Download - Terrible layout. Fast now but there are faster sites. Good house releases but not much in what I am looking for.

ID&T Dance-Tunes - I like the bundles feature but I can't get past the brutal layout and interface. Its sooo hard to find tracks.

Thanks for the laugh dude!

I can't believe you even took the time to do all this... Congratulations, your "apology" thread has made you look even worse to me than your spam!
