Baad Gig.bad Depression.

I just had a dj competition, and completely lost all my confidence(wasnt confortable with the club mixer and tables)....and one fuck led to another. Its was so bad that Although it was done entirley harmonically, I lost control of my fundamentals and I just couldnt clear my mind an get into a groove.

So Im in a serious depression, Its like I have lost alot faith in myself. This has been my worst gig by far to the point that I consider quitting, but I know Im nothing without it. Any advice from you veterans on how to deal with these times(Im assuming everyone has been in these lows at some point. How do I get out out of this negative place in my mind??

Although, I'm far from a veteran DJ, I do know that DJ'ing is just like anything else in life. You have bad days and good days. Don't beat yourself up so badly because of one poor performance. Analyze what you did wrong, practice on that and learn from your mistakes.

DJ'ing is an on-going learning process, don't quit just because you hit a small bump in the road.

Cheer up! Know that better things are on the horizon.

i think we all have these moments. between bad gear, bad days and just being booked somewhere that people expect to hear d&b when you play house and no one is dancing.

don't give up! djing is supposed to be fun.

i've been playing for several years and have my bad days, but the good ones far exceed the bad. just clear your mind of the bad ones and keep a positive mind set. no one wants to see a depressed dj. your feelings will come out when you play so try your hardest to stay positive.

Everyone has a bad gig sooner or later and sometimes people have horrible experiences like you did that just turn you off entirely to what you're doing. It happens. Don't quit, just take a week or two off and go on with your life for a bit then come back to it with a fresh perspective and the music will take you where you need to go. No worries man.

Cheers

You're obviously taking djing way too seriously to begin with. It's supposed to be fun and a hobby. If you fucked over a show, who cares? As long as you can still have fun by yourself throwing together shoddy mixes in your room and cracking out a few Jesus poses, then that's what really matters. Being successful at djing should merely be an added plus.

haha just went out to the bar with the boys...absolutely drunk/ high right now. Now that I think about it, I think these bad gigs are a very essential part of the dj process. In the end, they really do make you stronger. Thanks alot guys, I appreciate the support Letting the music guide you will make everything else come secondary.

and here i go about to throw a big funkin wrench in the whole deal

i just had the worst/best show ever

it's been a move i've been contemplating for a while now

i don't think i'm going to dj again

tonight just sealed the deal

headphones are getting hung up

i have to focus on my radio production career and the dj lifestyle and bullshit politics really are taking their toll, so i'm going to walk away from it all

*on a side note, i played a FUCKING wicked set to go out on.... too bad only a select few heard it... i wish i could remember the tracklisting

i am so drunk and stoned and goodtimes

good night and good luck, i'll still be around to offer advise, i'll need something to kill slow times at the radio station

I find the more you concentrate, the more you mess up. You just have to relax and it just comes naturally - its like your'e using the force. Probably another reason why djs are always stoned
