Using Basslane to mono a stereo bassline - what freq to use?

Hi All

I currently have a nice low baslsine I've made with Z3ta. It was made with a non bass type noise and has a wide stereo effect on it. I want to retain some of this character but mono the bassline to help give it more presence.

I'm using Otiumfx basslane to mono the bass at about 450hz but was wondering if this is too low / high or what generally would be the level at which 'bass' stops and mid/high bass or mids come in.

FJ

Just found a pretty decent article that talks with descriptive words alongside frequencies. Seems like 500hz to 2hz is considered mid range so i'll look like my 450hz seems about right. Maybe my ears do work lol!

Yeah, 450 Hz seems about right.
Basslane is freaking awesome, I use it all the time.

I usually have two layers for my bass - the low (mono) layer and the mid (stereo, delay) layer which I cut around 360-410. With this configuration the two layers blend together nicely.
I find that if I cut the mid layer higher than 410, then there's too much separation between the low and mid layer, but that might just be the sound you are aiming for...
