Just the other day i went to the HR office for something. Somebody was applying for a position. I guess he though i was applying too, so he asked me to look over it. you know what it was? a damn autobiography!

here some parts that i remember
"On the weekends i usually hang out with my 2 friends and my girlfriend who i love very much. I like watching movies and going to the beach"

I told him he needed to work on it some more... He told me another job told him to come back with a real resume. Don't get remembered by doing something stupid!!!!

well off to christmas shop... damn i have to get something good for my superviosr.. I need a good reference!!!

I went through a long time without a job (8 months) last year: BY the end of the 8 months (being unemployed) I had been on a dozen or more interviews. I was either overqualified or underqualified. Meaning: where i thought I stood was UP here and was really actually somewhere in the middle at that particular point. This was due to the job market in my field. You just have to keep revising - take a second a look at everything your doing. Assess the situation and just keep plugging away. Most of the time it is not what you are doing ---- however, it could be that you don't necessarily fit the profile of the person they are looking to fill the job...Chin up dood...

Ok man its all about the follow up. If you dont take the time to follow up your resume with at least 1 call back then an employer will think your either not committed to getting the job or your lazy. Calling back is expected by any employer.

I just started a new job in managment and sales with a huge furniture company. I called back at least 4 times over the month and a half selection process. Calling back makes you stand out, you figure i had 4 conversations with the manager by the time i finally got hired. thats 4 more then all the people that didnt call back.

You might also want to make sure you dont have any spelling mistakes in your resume. An employer will toss it in the trash for sure if there are mistakes. My spelllng iss teerible soo i doble chekd it wifth mi loots of tymes.

Last spring, I applied to 4 different places for jobs. One place, after applying, I went into the place and personally conversed with the manager about how I lived close, loved movies (it was a video store), and was great with working with people. Needless to say, I got the job about a month later. I didnt receive calls from any of the other places.

So, the moral of this story is, follow up. Apply, then speak with the manager. Preferably by phone, but if you happen to be in the store, why not say hi too.

i'm 16 and i have a great shit job.. the best advice i can give is make friends with the people 1st and then go work for them, that way you can fuck around and not get in too much trouble.. but then that also means you have to show that you actually know what your doing,

you think applying to 9 jobs is a lot ???

Rofl!

Last year I was without a job for 3 / 4 months it was quite a bi*tch and I was making at least 20+ contacts a week and I finally found something.

You hope things are going to be easy? You think you going to find a job just cause you're searching?

Stuff doesn't fall from the sky and you're going to have to work hard for it.

Don't make excuses for your failures as you're only hurting yourself.

I know it's hard very hard but expecting a voluntary call back just ain't going to happen.

You gotta harass these f00kers. Call them first thing in the morning, and make sure you call them back asap if the person is not available.

One alternative you could take at this stage is temp worker, it's not bad actually.

I'm just repeating what's basically already been said; so don't make any more lamearse excuses and work on it.
