Get there and grab a cannister then drives us back to a previous highway entrance and cruises down till we reach our car and are able to fill it up. Small world, told him we were going to see AVB and he knew the club, who AVB was, said how he used to be at Guv and zone every weekend!  What great people in this scene I say! Oh, and when we got to the car...damn back seat door was jammed and wouldnt open...accidently i shut it on the seatbelt and after several body chucks, pulling on the handle with all our strength, and giving up and continuing on to niagara, turns out all it needed was a little Vince Love Tap and voila, door opens?! Fcuked up but it all worked out and we got to the club at 11:50!! (sadly no time to gamble...)
great night overall. the vibe was unmatched. Crazy energy all night long, not many pushers and shovers but a few over the top drunks.
Ugh but i was not feeling the first 1h45min. BOO. proggy trance? i dunno...he dropped maybe 2 or 3 songs that were alright, but overall i kept asking when is he going to get out of the intro and play some tunes! However, around 2:45am it was all up hill from there!!! Amazing second half, several encors. Love you more was great to hear again, its been a while. Burned with Desire was a great one Body of Conflict! that got me going 
excellent audiance interaction, tonnes of jesus poses, and pretty happy to take pictures and sign autographs all night long. too bad some bouncers were ball busters. Every time I go to dragonfire, the dj finishes and the bouncers push 5 or so girls (the "I give BJs to see DJs" type), to the front of the door, let them take pictures with him, and then tries telling others to leave (obviously a few others got photos..but not many) oh and there were some pretty critical id checks, but at least everyone i knew got in Great party overall! got home at 530...left for work at 7....no sketch! (tired as a bitch though) |
OMG I'm still at work and have not slept in almost 36 hours now. BUT IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!!!!! My poor car. This was by far the sketchiest night I've ever had in my entire life. Poor TrancEEEE, I just met this girl and I leave her stranded in a car on the QEW cause I ran out of gas. Fucking warning light never came on so I thought everything was good. Then Me, Swift, and Alino decide to try and find a gas station after climbing this offramp on fruitland drive in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. Someone picks us up. We get gas, and then he takes us for a little tour of stoney creek while we finally go back to the car. I think it is safe to say at this point we were all shitting our pants.
We were determined to make it to Armin no matter what. We made it with 5 minutes to spare...literally. And this is after Swift somehow lodges his belt buckle in between the frame of the car and the door effectivly lodging it shut. lol. Then Vince decides to start cracking jokes about my baldness. asshole. lol. Well Vince saved the day. He somehow dislodges the buckle and we proceed to the club where Armin hands me a one pass for a 3 hour trip to Heaven.
The vibe was great except if you were near the DJ booth. It was pushy as hell up there. But I managed to get a few got pics of the main man himself, and an autograph. Then I decided to temporarily stop being a DJ whore and dance in the area I will call the "TA corner".
Mr. Ra was celebrating his birthday and was dancing away and effectivly keeping a nice open space for us while he was at it The quite easily at on point was 20 of us in that area at any given time during Armin's set.
Peter, always good seeing you brother, you always make an event more enjoyable through your passion for the music and hate for wooden platforms.....thus buy slamming it to the beat as hard as you can!!!
My ONLY complaint of the night is the seemingly incurable case of assholism that has infected the secuirty staff at Dragonfly. If you are a pretty girl with tits you can go anywhere and meet anyone. If you are a regular person or in the case of a self respecting woman, not willing to falsly flirt with the bouncer...you don't get anything but a terrible attitude. There is one bouncer I beleive he is the head bouncer, (the guy with the ponytail) not only cant tell a real ID from a fake one but has an ego inflated to the size of a hot air balloon.
But this is certainly not meant to shadow over the amazing decor and layout of the club itself. It is fantastic. And the summer wednesday party season has finally started!!!! I can't wait to see what other talent they have in store for us!!!
Armin's set itself, like others have posted, I found it a little slow in the start and it seemed that the introduction was little streched out, but man, when he dropped the hammer it was definatly everthing I would've expected from him and more. I was still in pain from Freedom but i really didn't feel it until I was back on the QEW. My only wish is that the rumours of Armin doing a 8 hour set at LOL is true.
Meanwhile, it is definalty time to figure what the fuck is wrong with my fuel gauge. lol.
