slightly harder than bryan adams but a canadian band getting a lot of airplay over here recently is Billy Talent. Hot Hot Heat are also ok for a few tracks that i've heard.

yeah, i'm not into that punk sound too much, but they have a few nice tracks.

arcade fire is pwn as fuck though. It is amazing that they are selling out stadiums, when i got to see them as a local pub band.

according to wikipedia there is no such thing as contemporary rock, in fact the only correlation i could find was 'contemporary music'.

"In the broadest and popular sense, Contemporary music is any music being written in the present day. This could include any kind of present music. However in the strict historical and musicological terminology, the term Contemporary music exclusively refers to the modern forms of art music..."

/ and that was 'a moment of wisdom with jivebojingles.'

It wasn't meant as a genre label. Contemporary as in current. And Rock as anything that could fall under that label. I dislike the phrase "modern rock" because to some it is a sub-genre of rock music released contemporaneously.

I'm very jealous. "Funeral" has been one of my favorite albums for some time now.

And it's absolutely hilarious that they wrote this song about Jessica Simpson's father:

you have to see them live to really appreciate them. Every member plays like 5 different instruments during their set and pulls it off. I'm no fan of the harp, but if you can make it work = talent.

I agree - I think Radiohead and Arcade Fire are the two bands you really need to see live to fully appreciate because of how much energy and innovation they pour into their live shows.

I cracked a rib during their set when they were opening for My Chem this last april. I remember one dude had awesome hair, but that's about it. I went on to crack a total of three ribs at that show but the perserveriance paid off cause I got Frank Iero's guitar pic.

Personally, my fave of all rock is AFI.

And because somebody has to do it, let's throw in a little MCR.
