You read the book and you create it's intensity in your mind. Then you watch the movie and everything that you wanted from the book is not there. Clancy is a great writer, intricate characters, and storylines. You can get lost in his books with his technical jargen alone.

i never read any of his book so.. but i agree with you when they make a movie based on a book they should really keep as close to the book as possible!! (it really ennoyed me to see saruman who says: "we need to join sauron!!" because that's not something he would have said in the book!!
but like i said i never read any of the books so didn't have any expectations and all three movies are great on their own!!!
