Well, I'd be curious to know which Trance DJs often work on 3 or 4 decks. When you find one, let me know. |
excellent point!
ryan, if you want to bring in techno djs into the discussion, then two words, JEFF MILLS!!!! talk about skills, this guy often mixes without even touching the pitch control, (so if he has to slow the incoming track down, he'll slow it down by touching the platter and mix it in, seamlessly!!) and he's famous for it, works off 3 decks all the time, often four... carl cox is good too, but i personally don't like his track selection...

you abviously missed the point
and do you really think he would quit spinning?
why would he do that? its to convenient for him. why rely on the money he makes from those other sources when he can make even more money from spinning at the same time.
why do actors act their whole lives?
they become producers, directors and what not...why, they make more than enough just acting...the answer is...they have to support their lifestyle...money only last so long and it only goes so far, than its all gone, especially if they spend it all like most multi millionairs do.
so if oakie spends all the money he makes in a year from his sources other than spinning, than he isw gonna wanna have money left to lead the same lifestyle he is living now...so why not spin and save that money for when he retires
but thats not the point either
the point is he doesnt care for his fans anymore
and stupid fucks like you seem to love to hang off his nutts for that cuz he used to care and be a quality dj
cheers

which is EXACTLY the point i'm trying to prove... you can apply what you just said to anyone in the world, why single him out and say something dumb like "i think the only reason oakie (joakie hahaha) still spins is so he can afford his habbits...sniff..."?!

riiiiight, even if he does, what relevance does it have on our discussion? who cares...

I could care less about oakie, but its fucks like you that jump on the flame band wagon that irritate the shit out of me... if you're going to hate him, thats fine, who cares if you do, but don't be coming on here trying to justify your hate with some lame ass excuses yet having no clue what you're talking about...

umm, no, its not... it's classic house saturdays, progressive house fridays... except for special events obviously... plus morales was there about a month ago on a saturday and i wouldn't classify him as progressive... lol

They're all but non-existent. The genre as a whole doesn't demand much in the way of technical skill. That said, I can think of one guy who at least was classified as a trance dj, and who utilizes three decks from time to time. Any guesses? Hahahahaaa!
Sasha.
Check out disc one of his SanFran GU. It's a fuckin' piece of art. Probably mixed with Protools mind you, but he sometimes mixes like that live too, and that can serve as a good example of trance played technically brilliantly. As far as I'm concerned, trance dj's are all good and fine, playing one track after another, but none of them today, at least to my knowledge, take it to the next level. None of them involve much in the way of creativity or origniality in their sets. Oakie is a great example of that. He just plays rekkids. Back to back to back, with rarely more than a sixteen or thirty-two beat transition (mix). Trance is all about track-selection yes, but there is something beautiful and artistic in being creative, and trance dj's are notorious for ignoring this.

isn't that how trance is mixed? most likely either 8 or 16 bar transitions...
